    So glad you are feeling much better!! Girl, that wool you bought to spin is absolutely GORGEOUS!! We have a local spinner and weaver group in my area who display their colorful spun yarn at the fair and I'm always there drooling!!! I don't knit or crochet but I buy that yarn and make my own cording for art quilts and Xstitch finishes. Your creative retreat sounds like heaven. The variety of projects is fantastic and the food....I was drooling. Boy, every time I hear about the stitching time with Linda, I have FOMO. You guys have so much fun! The creativity is awesome!! As to the weather, yes I'm ready for the fall and I'm counting down the days to the PNWSS. I'm sure hoping the fire season is over quickly. I worry about everyone in the PNW during this time. Sending you hugs from NE Ohio.

Just ordered some more and I will send some out to you when they arrive. Keep us posted on how your new adventure with the spinning wheel is going. I have always admired them when I see them for sale. If I had the room, I probably would purchase one if only for the pleasure of looking at it and wondering what may have been made on it back in the pioneer days. A question if you don’t mind? I have gathered together the fabric I need for a quilt, and I wondered if you prewash all your fabrics before starting? Thanks!!

    • @texstylust
      @texstylust  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@victoriabougie4412 I almost never pre-wash my fabric. A lot of that was from past times where the dyeing process wasn’t what it is today. Having said that, I will pre-wash if it is a deep red. I have a quilt coming up that is red and white/cream and I will soak it with a color catcher, then rinse and hang until its almost dry, then iron. Good luck on your quilt! @@texstylust I saw another FTubie, Linnie, from SABLE stitchers quite a while back working on a Halloween quilt by Crabapple Hill named Hocuspocusville. I’ll try to send you pictures. There is a lot of embroidery involved and this will be a long term project for sure! I wanted to brighten up the colors and made a few (for me) bold color choices. I would be very interested in your opinion!! I think I will have to email pictures to you.

    • @texstylust
      @texstylust  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@victoriabougie4412 Hi Victoria! They are definitely bold colors which I think are fine. The only think I would caution you on is balancing the color with the embroidery. With Crabapple Hill quilts, you don’t want to take focus away from the embroidery with the fabric. Bright colors are fine as long as the print isn’t distracting. I wouldn’t use the sulky for the embroidery. Plain muslin or SF101 are a better choice.

    Watching you now! Edit to add - Sorry to hear about your pneumonia. Yuck. I've been there so know pretty much how you felt. I'm so excited for you getting your wheel Seeing your beautiful fiber, I'd recommend starting with the BFL and waiting for a while until you get more experienced to try the alpaca/silk blend. You'll be able to use your cards to blend fibers, so wait a bit before getting a blending board. Three more pieces of equipment you need are a spool holder for plying your yarn (I made one with a shoe box and dowels, but wooden ones with dowels to hold your spools are much better), a niddy-noddy, and a swift (looks like an umbrella without the fabric cover) to hold the yarn as you wind it into a ball. Congratulations on the first steps to a new adventure!
