    Hey actor! If you’re still hunting for the perfect fit monologue, I’ve put together a collection of my favourite Shakespeare monologues sorted by casting type and general vibe. Makes it easy to pick one you love and another one to contrast. You can find it here: shakespearewithsarah.com/shakespeare-collection/

    Great video!! Thank you for all your tips and explanations, they do help so much. Never apologise for getting character, I can tell you really connect with this piece and you read it powerfully. It is a strong contender for my own audition monologues! I still have to narrow it down though

      Oh man, it's such a good one. It is quite tricky though, so that's one thing to consider. I might do an Advanced tutorial on this one because I was working on it recently and I spotted quite a few technical things - some that are tricky and some that are helpful.
      And absolutely yes to your other comment about choosing a monologue. I have lots of thoughts on this so I decided to make a video about it! It will be up next week. :D Thanks for the query!

    Hey! Amazing video! I found it so helpful when researching the character. I just wanted to check this monologue is in verse. It’s what the audition calls for. Also the monologue can only be two minutes long. Is there good place you’d recommend a cut that feels natural or should I leave as is? Thank you!✨

    • @ShakespearewithSarah
      @ShakespearewithSarah  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! It was a few seconds over two minutes when I did it as a self tape, so I think it would be ok to leave as is unless you know you’ll be penalised for going over time. This is a monologue that’s difficult to cut because of the enjambment (the way the lines run on) so I wouldn’t recommend cutting it 😬

      Shakespeare with Sarah i’m looking at this monologue
      “Thou speak'st aright;
      I am that merry wanderer of the night.
      I jest to Oberon and make him smile
      When I a fat and bean-fed horse beguile,
      Neighing in likeness of a filly foal:
      And sometime lurk I in a gossip's bowl,
      In very likeness of a roasted crab,
      And when she drinks, against her lips I bob
      And on her wither'd dewlap pour the ale.
      The wisest aunt, telling the saddest tale,
      Sometime for three-foot stool mistaketh me;
      Then slip I from her bum, down topples she,
      And 'tailor' cries, and falls into a cough;
      And then the whole quire hold their hips and laugh,
      And waxen in their mirth and neeze and swear
      A merrier hour was never wasted there.
      But, room, fairy! here comes Oberon.”
      i was casted as puck in a play and really need to work on this monologue. your videos are so helpful, thanks so much!

      @@danica870 Yes no problem, I can definitely look at that one! It's a interesting one because there are a lot of connotations in there and it'll depend on how your director wants to interpret it.
      I will do the video as soon as I can - it might be about a week or so though before it's up though, I hope that's ok for you. Thanks for the suggestion!
