    Good strikers do exactly what their coach tells them.
    Great fighters listen but adapt.
    Don't limit your striking skills by not working outside the box.

    When I started teaching my son some boxing, the first thing i told him is to keep an open mind when learning. When I took him to an actual gym it was easier for him to pick up on what his coach was teaching him. Because he had been taught that there's more than one waynto do thing, he ended up with more variations from striking, defense to footwork as well.

    Cool video Gabriel. Rather than saying that pros can get away with these “mistakes” because they’re just that good or they have attributes that let them get away with it, you’re explaining why these things work. Some of these things I’ve picked up on by watching fighters and your comrades on TH-cam, but I like how you explained why and how to use the dropped uppercut. I’ve always tried to correct that “mistake” when I see myself do it. Thanks for the enlightenment.

      Left to left or right to right I use body jab after high jab or feint hi, and I like to use my rear hand to check opponents lead hand or cover vision to distract as I get little closer and actually cocking my lead arm. I can use it to set up lead hook as well. Body cross I like to use opposite stance right vs left. I use lead hand to check hand or cover vision and a lot of time throw a quick jab or back fist to distract to set up body cross. And I’ll mix it up use lead round house low outside calf to set up cross to face. I’ll use lead foot jab to lead leg and then jab hook cross/jab cross hook and sneak in cross to body as well

    I think another one that could be in this list is that “reloading” the hip is bad because of telegraphs. A lot of good pressure fighters seem to reload the right and/or left side to double up on power shots and with punches being tenths if a second it seems to be completely fine

    • @GilAiresSilva
      @GilAiresSilva ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We always say that, don't reload because the other sees, don't switch kick the back middle kick, because it shows... And then you see people doing it all the time and their opponents don't react to those tells on time. It's all about speed, plus tiredness and fight emotion at the moment

  • @maggnet4829

Anyway thanks for the great content as always

  • @GilAiresSilva
    @GilAiresSilva ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video @Gabriel Varga. But using elite boxers (Many, Cabelo) as examples for lowering the hands, is not very good. They don't get kicks to the head. If they fail the timming/distance, they get a clean punch. It's often worth the risk. That is why pro boxers do it all the time, but not so prevalent in Thai fighters. Artem Levin or Saenchai could be better examples to cite. Keep giving us this kind of vídeos, and even get some clips of Thai boxers in the middle of your video, demonstrating the rule breaking you are talking about. 🙏🏻

    • @GilAiresSilva
      @GilAiresSilva ปีที่แล้ว

      In stand up, it's too risky for the reward. It's hard enough to be in the distance to hit face elbows. Plus body elbows are kinda weird (except maybe a front/uppercut elbow to the solar plexus, that could work). What works great is elbows to the legs (and knees), when you grab a middle kick from your opponent

    • @Cyb3r33
      @Cyb3r33 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GilAiresSilva I should also specify that the kind of elbow strikes I'm talking about are more like hooks rather than piercing strikes. I usually use them after a jab when I get close enough and then elbow the liver from the side. I do however agree that they seem quite risky, that's why I'm asking. Thanks for the feedback :)

This is taught as absolutely "wrong", but it's a very fast past through position that can only be seen in slow motion and freezing the video. In fact the best upper hooks use a circular motion that passes through the thigh.

    kidney shots are good way to make them never guard the head and fake them alot more for body to go head with just a few decent shots you can change your opponents mind
