Hello Marilyn...I meant that my grandpa was a merchant sailor and was on the boat that took the last residents off St.Kilda...he did not live there himself...apologies for not explaining myself more clearly. My grandparents were from the Isle of Harris, which I visited in 2011 when I went home. Visited Dunvegan Castle too...never did got up that far when I lived in Glasgow..lol Its so beautiful there. I live in Kalispell, Montana and my son will be moving to Seattle next year to attend college.

Beautiful and sad. Loved the bairns on Skye, they all look so happy. I too have been fascinated by St. Kilda for many years, and this is some of the best footage I have ever seen. FANTASTIC

@@valbradybubs Type into youtube st kilda 1928 and many will appear, there is also st kilda 1908, I have watched most of them and they are very interesting because tst kilda is just within reach of me from where I am but the lack of trees etc puts me off.

@@panspermiahunter7597 Thanks so much for the info, I'll definitely have a watch. Re. lack of trees on St Kilda.....I visited orkney and it's the same with hardly any trees which i found quite boring and I'm sure Shetland hardly has any trees either. I gather you're on the west coast of scotland or maybe the outer hebrides

@@valbradybubs West coast, yes the lack of trees psychologically would get to me, maybe my primitive side is closer than I think?

I am also Clan MacLeod...born and raised in Glasgow and now living in the United States. My grandfather was on the boat which took the last inhabitants off the island in 1930, I believe it was.

How great to see Kilda ALIVE ....I was there in 2007 when it was empty and in ruins...however, I did see the St. Kilda wren!!!! .l also enjoyed Oban, Skye and, of course, Dunvegan ( I am of the Clan MacLeod).........and I was born in 1928!!!!!! This June (2013) was my fifth trip to the Hebrides!!!!

@Stationario Being native to a place means it's where you were born and bred. In this sense, we are all native to some place.

RAMBLE........................I would love to be able to ramble amongst St Kildans. Not to patronise but just appreciate the way of life (however prehistoric to our soft times). I think you are on a wind up.

I think you need to check your facts on that one! St Kilda, Australia did not get its name from the islander's migrating there.

@mistersmith6000 I presume you mean some of the people who live in St. Kilda, Australia?

The arrogance of the film makers at the time. Describing the St Kildans as 'natives' Ok a different era, but how many communities around the world have been infected by so called progress and subsequently died.
Would love to go there and feel what it must have been like

I wonder if any of the Children in this video are still alive, some of them would be around 90-95.

@Stationario: What is wrong with describing the natives as 'natives' ? Am I missing something here people? You then go on about a 'different era' but you don't explain what you are on about! I think what best describes you is 'rambling'!!
