At last a video from someone who knows how to point a camera. I wish youtube would just play automatically at 720HD, I was half way through before I realised it was only playing at 360. I lived on Lewis for a couple of years so it's nice to see good videos from up there.
Beautifully filmed, well done. Everytime I see anything on this place it makes me more desperate to get there. Me and my partner are saving to hopefully camp a few days
Thanks for your comments. The boat is seaworthy enough to cross the Atlantic but lacks the range. We can overcome this by adding temprary bladder tanks along the side decks
Increased visits, tourism, the lure of lazy tinned food given by visitors, military presence and tales of the new world led to an exodus and depleted population. The advent of the NHS and external pressure to conform to standards of a developing state. Many things led to the demise and ultimate evacuation..
It was really contact with the outside world who went to see the St Kildans in the "zoo". The natives gradually left for a new life sometimes as far as Melbourne. There wasn't enough men to launch a boat.
Wonderfully done! Thank you very much.
Sound of lewis? Sound of Harris! Good vid 👍managed to get there twice, AWESOME!!!!

Fabulous - really brought back memories from the wonderful trip we had there in the glorious summer of 2003.

Thanks for the comment. I'm glad it touched you
One of the only places in Scotland that we have not visited, Hope too visit soon
We have wanted too visit for the laast twenty years
It has to be favourable weather, no place to be in a storm.
It hasn't changed much since 1970 when I stayed there apart from military buildings being rebuilt recently.

would love to have a house on St. Kilda
Me too.
sadly not possible
Forgot to ask, would your boat be up to crossing the Atlantic?
Very interesting video
Can anyone identify used music?
Is that some sort of crane in the background @ 4.05
Not sure what you are looking at but there are no cranes out there.
St. Kilda is idyllic!
on that day, not many of them!
Christianity and it's related epidemics (the common cold, flu, etc etc etc ) was the death spelled the death knell

Ok sound of Lewis does not exist. It's the Sound of Harris. Lovely video but mistakes like this grind my gears 😡
