    Do you think I should go ahead and replace intake manifold gasket? Also, where did you get the o-rings you mentioned? Thank you!!!!

    • @rapidcarcareandperformance5280
      @rapidcarcareandperformance5280  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Might as well since they're pretty cheap and it's already off. Fel-pro makes those o-rings I just don't have the part#. Just ask your local parts store you need the heater hose o-rings to the thermostat housing. I got mine from Advance Auto.

    This video was very helpful, but damn it, I have a LEAK. It's a small one but yeah... I replaced the large o-ring on the pipe, but not the two on the two pipes that go to the heater core(?). Hindsight is 20/20. Hopefully that's where the leak is coming from, either from that or the larger pipe. I'll jack it up in the morning and find out.

    • @cristianrojas1931
      @cristianrojas1931 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you ever find the o rings for the two lines that go to the heater core if so where or how did you find em i got the same problem but i cant find those o rings. TIA

    • @mattmgarza
      @mattmgarza ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cristianrojas1931 No, I ended up not needing them. It was that other, larger pipe that was the problem for me. I seem to remember having a lot of trouble trying to find the o-rings you are talking about. Maybe you could take the part in to a parts store and they could try to match it up with a proper o-ring. If that doesn't work, go to Harbor Freight and get the Viton o-ring assortment and hopefully there will be one in there that fits. I wouldn't buy the big bulk case of nitrile o-rings for something like this. The Viton are more temperature and chemical resistant. But yeah good luck, I'm sure there's something out there that will fit. If not, maybe also try some The Right Stuff one minute black gasket. Apply and let it "cure" and then install. But I'd try it in that order: parts store, Harbor Freight, then the Right Stuff if nothing else available.

    Great video man! These things have Dex coolant in them. Any comments or thoughts on getting rid of the Dex, and swapping it for the standard green coolant?

    • @rapidcarcareandperformance5280
      @rapidcarcareandperformance5280  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Danny! Im not a fan of Dex at all. There's been some issues with GM cooling systems over the years that "require" Dex. The best thing you can do is completely flush all the Dex out and then just replace with a all makes all models 50/50 mix. You can also go 100% conventional 50/50. Just be sure to get all the Dex out as you can end up with gel like substance in the cooling system. We do this with a lot of customer vehicles and there's never been an issue.

    • @rapidcarcareandperformance5280
      @rapidcarcareandperformance5280  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You only need to replace the housing if its damaged. Its a metal housing that rarely breaks.
