    When did Mr Everardo join the Cathay pacific?

    Applying to be a cadet. On the slim chance I would get selected, I wonder if solo time hurt my application being a FAA PPL holder?

    Hi Pilot Obet. Might be a silly question, but do you have to be based in Asia with Cathay Pacific and if so has the transition to living there been challenging culture wise - or has it been easier than anticipated? Most countries with a specific culture value, combined with language, make it difficult for other cultures to adjust. Would like to know before I consider pilot jobs in Asia. Currently I'm living in Africa. Thanks

      Good question; for the first part, YES you have to be based in Hing kong for Cathay. Hong Kong as a place to live has been easier than anticipated- easy to travel from etc

      Hi what have you decided to do? I’m currently a student pilot in Namibia and hope to fly the big jets in the near future.

    Captain O, answer me this! Hasn’t Boing faced out production of the 747? Why are new pilots still being type trained in it? 🤔🤔🤔

    • @Pteparts69
      @Pteparts69 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because even though the aircraft isn't being manufactured anymore, doesn't mean that they wont still be flying for another 2 decades or more. People leave or retire every year, and you have to replace them somehow. An airline won't stop training on type until they are about to retire that aircraft.

      Good answer already here 😀

      I think two decades may be on the conservative side. There are still 747s flying from the 70ies, though, for governments (and those are close to 50 years old). But there are quite a few cargo aircrafts from the 80s and lots and lots of them from the 90ies. So I guess the latest 747-8 will be in the air for at least 30 years and those for special purposes (like the new air force one, also based on the 747-8) even much longer...
