    The relationship with your mom is so beautiful. You are a wonderful daughter. Both of you are so blessed to have each other. Not all people can have the same relationship that you have with your mom. :)

      @Mayra Ramos - Don't fear or become looney about the sun. All the sunscreen manufacturers don't give a darn about your Vitamin D levels, of which many many suffer low levels of. The sun provides natural Vit D.

    • @SimplyAWitch9
      @SimplyAWitch9 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@palafox2237 you only need a few minutes of direct sunlight for that. Your not getting more the longer you stay in it. And vitamin D is present in plenty of foods. Please dont give people false health advise.
      Also people do research and dont base your health choices off of youtube comments.

    • @Madame_Migraine
      @Madame_Migraine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting vitamin D from the sun is like eating a whole chocolate cake for the scant antioxidants in the little bit of coco in the cake full of sugar. UV rays are known carcinogens. It's like saying smoking a little bit is good for you....take a vitamin D supplement.

    This video is so helpful, and I ❤️ when you include your mom and Tybee in your vlogs. Like your mom, I wear foundation and until I discovered your channel I thought I only had to apply sunscreen once a day unless I was sweating or swimming. Thanks so much Dr. Dray and adorable family! ❤️🐶💐

    I just re-applied my sunscreen over my foundation, and tapped it in, and it worked ! I was so excited !! I never tried that. It actually helped to moisturize my face as well, which is usually very dry !! Thanks for the great tip ! Would love to see more videos of doing the practice of applying sunscreen AFTER the foundation application, for us foundation wearers. Andrea, I know you do not wear foundation :-)

      Can you tell me what sunscreens you use daily for your face? I also where a foundation most days, so I would like a suggestion on the best ones that can layer before & after the foundation. Thanks!

    • @ioanatoacsen1503
      @ioanatoacsen1503 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Foundation, yes, can be applied over that perhaps in a way. But what if you have more than foundation on? I think I would just smear the contour + highlighter too... So question: are you applying it over contour/highlighter/blush? Highlighter I could just reapply, but contour/blush?

      @@ioanatoacsen1503 have u found a way to make it work? I ve been asking myself the same question, maybe using a cushion puff to apply it would help?

      Ioana Toacsen I know Dr. Dray doesn't like spray sunscreens... however, I've been using that to reapply my sunscreen over my makeup throughout the day. It's really the best way that I have found, personally, to be able to reapply my sunscreen when I'm wearing makeup without messing all of my makeup up! It kind of works like a makeup setting spray! LOL. I just cover my eyes so I don't get it in my eyes. It's been working for me, though! It may not be the best thing to do, idk! 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I figure it's better than not reapplying it at all. LOL.

    I'm glad you touched on the subject of reapplying SPF over makeup. It can be tricky, but so worth it when protecting your skin! What works for me is using the Australian Gold Tinted Mineral SPF 50 all over my face and neck. Then I go in with my Pixi Concealer SPF 20 to color correct (if needed) on any zits or if my under eyes look a little tired - then I apply powder on my nose to control shine. I love reusing the Australian Gold twice a day. I also use Coppertone Water Babies for all over my body twice a day (thanks for the recommendations on that product!) I go crazy with SPF use because 1.) My mom always taught us tanning is not good for your skin, and this was in the 80's... and 2.) I've had the privilege to work with various dermatologists in the past, and gained first hand knowledge of why you should protect your skin. Those chunks of skin biopsies were cool to look at😉!

    I've had good results applying Elta MD tinted sunscreen over makeup in the summer. It works best if I am wearing a light bb cream or even the Elta MD tinted spf as my primary foundation. I often apply this in the morning and add a whisper of translucent powder to even things out. Then in the afternoon, I reapply the Elta MD tinted spf on my face. Sometimes I powder again after that, sometimes not. Either way, it seems to work well and doesn't look goopy or give off a white cast. Love that stuff!

    Thank you for the videos. I have struggled with acne since I stopped nursing my son about six months ago--my skin seems more sensitive now. I used your technique of using adapalene (sp?) after moisturizer on a dry face and my skin is so much "happier" now. Also, as the mom of a ten year old with severe eczema, seeing someone besides mom and dad say to lay off the body wash has helped convince her that she's not weird because she doesn't do some of the things her friends do. Thank you!

    I tried this today with excellent results. Reapplied my Elta MD UV physical SPF 41 right over my foundation and powder bronzer, blush, highlighter, and finishing powder. I applied it in patting motions and it didn’t disrupt anything. I did reapply a bit of blush though really didn’t need to. I actually achieved a more flawless looking finish. For reference I have normal/dry 61 yr old skin. Thanks again Doc!

    I think I FINALLY figured out my sunscreen/makeup routine, as well as reapplying throughout the day. Geesh took me long enough.....but I still find myself experimenting to see if I could get it even better. So.....I use the greasiest most coverage sunscreen in morning and afternoon SPF 50(at high sun exposure UVA/UVB hours), And later I reapply with Ceravu day spf 30 but the 50 around my eyes since they are more sensitive, and I think that is working out good. Since I feel more confident with less grease, and I run errands more in late afternoon, its nice to use the less greasier sunscreen later. And its prob best to put on the SPF 50 around those earlier hours anyway. If you put a good primer on after the sunscreen before makeup it helps the grease a little. I just hope it dosen't interfere with the effectiveness of the sunscreen. I just hate how the sunscreen gets on everything. But....owe well. Lol

    I know that its better to go bare faced with sunscreen but some of us have skin conditions that make a self-conscious to go out without makeup on. I suffer with rosacea and so I usually only go out with a full face of makeup on. I first apply sunscreen SPF of 50 underneath my makeup and then my Foundation ( with an SPF of 25) then top with powder and then lastly spray-on sunscreen with an SPF of 30, then re-apply the spray throughout the day. Do you think this sounds like enough sun protection for someone who spends most time indoors?

    Wow! I had no idea that body wash isn't good. Can you please do a future video on why body wash isn't good for you. And maybe compare it to body soap and what you recommend instead. Thank you so much for the informative videos. Much love to you, your mom and Tybee. ❤️

    The only problem is when you actually wear make up, the appropriate approach to reapply SPF on top of it is not with lotions or gels but I will usually blotted any extra oils from my face then I will apply a good layer of SPF 50 powder then seal it with a SPF 50 mist setting spray but instead of spraying it directly into the face the correct way to apply it is by spraying on the hands then patting over the face then proceed to spray directly to the face... I really prefer a non full makeup every day so I can reapply throughout the day but those days of going out during the day is the most effective way I came out with and so far it has worked out for me

    Hi Dr. Dray! Enjoyed your outing video! Ty is adorable and yes he grew!! Oh, you were discussing the importance of wearing a hat! People tend to forget that your scalp can get burned as well!! Say hi to Mom! I noticed the lunch bowls she purchased at Ikea!! Perfect :-)

    If you want you can refill the tube by removing the plastic stopper at the end of the tube using a metal nail file and prising it up. after removing it you can refill the tube using a brine injector. you can refill without removing the stopper if the injector fits through the opening. but you have to squeeze as much air as possible out of the tube to create space for the product as air being displaced can't escape otherwise. I hope this helps.

    I 100% agree with what you said about the dove body bars. I used to use it all over my body including my face and broke out in big puss filled bumps all over. It was due to the film it leaves behind on your skin no matter how hard I tried to rinse it off. I much more prefer the unscented washes.

    Maybe that Hada Labo tube? Maybe use it exclusively for your purse, then you can use the jar for applying in the morning. Oh, I know about applying water to the skin and being dry. I only put water on my face one time a day (just plain water), otherwise it dries me out terribly. I am extremely dry in the face (no flaking though), but my skin can "crackle" from too much water, I know that much. Congrats to Tybee for losing a tooth - sweet dreams, little pup, for when the tooth fairy comes. ;) Thanks for vlogging! I very much enjoy your videos. :D

    Hi Andrea, I wear powder foundation and put sunscreen on top, no problem. The sunscreen just melts in and I reapply a dusting of foundation. PS I’m curious: who was into sunscreen first, you or your mom?

    Funny how you say that the Dove bar is bad for skin. My sisters dermatologist actually recommended it for her acne prone skin and she has been loving it and using it ever since. It works for her perfectly but I always thought it was weird since it has fragrance in it. You just confirmed what I thought !

    Honestly one of the reasons its hard to apply sunscreen in the first place is because some people suffer from several skin conditions that makes them hate to even touch their face and be reminded of this condition they have. I personal have congested skin so its super grainy. I tried using AHA’s BHA’s, retin-a, benzoyl peroxide, and even got extraction but nothing helped. Therefore, I hate to wear anything on my face because I dont want to be reminded of how my skin feels and I cant do anything about it. 4 dermatologist now and no affective treatment unfortunately.

    I think you could re apply IF you don’t powder your face when you apply your makeup. If you powder then try and reapply you’ll get cakey makeup. Just my thoughts on this... it’s a tough call!

    I use that Hada Labo one in the jar! I use it like make up primer. I put it on, leave it for 10-15 minutes while I am doing other things, then I set it with mineral powder. I reapply sunscreen that is powder... spritz with rose water first, then put powder sunscreen so powder sticks. I am going to try reapplying liquid sunscreen over my makeup and see how it goes

    I think what powder spf would be good for, is if you have a rather greasy Sunscreen you can erase the shine with that to top it of.

    Thanks Mom, I’m also a fan of the HydroPeptide solar defense. Last couple of times I ordered from Dermstore and also Skinstore where it was only $36 at each site. A little less than Amazon. Btw, I have to laugh when I refer to you as “Mom” since we are probably the same age 😊. Hope both of you & Tybee have a gorgeous Sundee.

    What should I be using on my face daily if I'm allergic to salicylic acids? I have very oily skin with large pores, fine lines, and wrinkles, dryness on certain spots on my nose, and rosacea. I need moisturizing sunblock that will help, but won't cause a reaction. I could use suggestions for total skin care. I have EDS, and the lack of natural collagen in my body is wrecking my body's abilities to function properly. Thank you for all your help. I learn so much from you. You spoke about Dove, and I use it, because I'm allergic to most other soaps. What do you suggest for my situation? Your mom is sweet, and your dog is adorable! Thanks again for all you do!

    Hi Andrea, you should definitely try the Biore UV perfect face milk (SPF 50, PA++++); it is a combination sunscreen with physical blockers zinc oxide/ titanium dioxide and good chemical filters Uvinul A Plus / Tinosorb S. However, it does contain ethanol as a solvent which can be a bit drying!
