Another beautiful video. Missed them, i love how you focus on the design and extras instead of showing them roughly. Can’t wait to see the next vid, and miss either the hauls!
Everything about your videos are perfection Alex! This is how it's done. Love the comparison of the formats. I just starting reading this in trades and am currently on volume 3! Going to stop reading there and now in large part to your video I'm going to pick up the omni and sell my trades. Thanks Alex, and hopefully soon you'll be doing a collection video! Would love to see your shelves in their entirety. Using them as your background is pure eye candy magic
Great video. I'm a huge fan of Grant Morrison but haven't attempted to read this in any format yet. I recently added it to my basket on Amazon and I've been looking to watch a video on youtube explaining it all and giving a review. I'm glad I came here and watched this as it was exactly what I needed. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Keep up the great work.
Thank so much! It’s a very fine line to try not to spoil and give the story away but I also need to give the potential reader enough to either pick up the book or just reminisce. Right now I’m cutting Final Crisis Omnibus and unfortunately I think I’ll be spoiling a lot due to complexity of the reading material and it’s material.
Great video as always! I'll definitely be picking this up. Side note: I know that everyone always asks for a room tour of your collection, I just want to see your longbox/shortbox setup for all your single issues haha.
Thank you!!! Unfortunately my short box setup is nothing fancy and I need to really sort out through the last several months of issues. I got lazy and just dumped them in the short box after reading.
i just got my 7S Omnibus this week. it is so beautiful! it took me some contemplation since i have the 4 TPBs as well as 2 HCs. but i'm a sucker for Morrison deluxe books, so i happily took the plunge! i love the breakdown of all the differences in the various editions! these videos you make are marvelous!!!
Thank you so much! I think this is the best edition we are going to get for Seven Soldiers. I don't foresee DC releasing a two volume absolute edition.
you are very welcome! :) i actually prefer these Deluxe Omnibus editions over the Absolutes. used to own several DC Absolute books but found i just couldn't read them comfortably, even when sitting at a table.
Just pre-ordered this badboy, really curious to read it. Love your videos, just wish you pumped more out on a bi-weekly basis and do a collection video or a highlight of your favourite comics, writers etc.
Thank you so much... I truly wish I had the time to pump out videos multiple times a week. In terms of a collection video, I am hoping to go through my videos with all these in depth videos.
Any reason ever given for why Volume 3 of the original TPB's was shorted? I ended up getting vols. 1,2, & 4 at an Ollie's Bargain Outlet and then discovered vol.3 is selling for almost the combined original price of the the entire four. I ended up buying the 2nd Volume of the hardcover instead. If I end up really liking the complete series and wanting the whole set to keep, not sure what choice I'll make.
There have been a couple of misprints in the previous editions. I wonder if anyone knows if this is the collection that finally fixes them? Could anyone who's got hold of a copy have a look and let me know? That'll be the decider for if I buy this again. The previous problems were that the story titles were omitted, even though one of them forms part of the dialogue and another forms part of the narration (and all of them are important!) So Klarion #4 is meant to have a crowd chanting, "Burn, Witchboy! Burn!" and Frankenstein #4 is meant to have a sentence end with the phrase "Frankenstein in Fairyland" But the TPB and the hardcovers removed those captions, leaving us a silent mob and a sentence that should read "Can you imagine...Frankenstein in Fairyland" just reading "Can you imagine..." There's also a train crash scene in Frankenstein #1 where one of the date captions is on the wrong panel. That error was in the original issues though, as well as both previous collections, so I don't have much hope of that ever being put right. But if anyone can have a quick check to see if Klarion #4 and Frankenstein #4 have their titles restored that'd be a huge help!
Hi Richard! You definitely have a great eye for detail with those discrepancies with the editions you got but the only inconsistency I could find here seems to be Frankenstein #4 where "Frankenstein in Fairyland" was omitted . I believe the reason was because the title was attached to the credits and it didn't make sense to break that apart that graphic in the collected editions. Maybe I am overlooking the "Burn, Witchboy, Burn!" but I have that in the big bold red typography across floppies/HC/TPB/Omnibus. Could you please message me showing a picture between the comic & your TPB ? The Train Crash Scene have dates 1925/1955/2005 in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th panels across all four editions.
Thanks! I made most of my best friends in comics fandom whilst reading, discussing, annotating and debating this series when it came out... so it's got a very special place in my heart! My comics are all packed up at the moment while we try and sort our house out. So I can't check - maybe I'm misremembering the "Burn, Witchboy Burn!" omission. (There's another I'm not sure about too - I thiiiiink one issue of Manhattan Guardian uses its title as the headline of a newspaper and, by removing that title, the collections print a newspaper page with a big white space where the headline should be!) Real shame about the 'Frankenstein in Fairyland' caption not having been restored. That was a great page of writing in floppies, but it reads strangely without its punchline. With the train crash scene (as I'm sure you can see) the '1955' caption needs to be in the fourth panel rather than the third. But since there's never been an edition in which that's been correct I didn't have too much hope that this'd be the one! Oh well. If this book HAD been perfect then I certainly would have ended up buying it a fourth time - so maybe its best for my wallet that the bugs are still there! Thanks for taking the time to have a look. Beautifully shot and edited videos by the way! Lovely stuff.
Thank you so much 🙏 Agreed ! Optimally, the ‘Frankenstein in Fairyland’ punchline should have been restored and truncating out the redundant credits. Would have been perfect if they fixed the date finally too but it can be easily overlooked especially if you are just visually basing it off the original content. Despite all this, I truly hope we get new readers picking up this book and adding discussion and view points. I know we have Morrison doing Green Lantern in November but I really miss his monthly absence in the DCU
An expanse epic from the author of Animal Man, Doom Patrol, The Invisibles, Happy! , Kid Eternity, and the Justice League reboot of 1990; Grant Morrison is a beast with literature.
i love your reviews Alex, exactly how i would do them comparing them to other print options. Would you say this is needed or recommend to read prior to Final Crisis? Or is the Final Crisis omnibus enough? Or simply good enough work by Morrison to buy anyway and is a bonus to Final Crisis?
Definitely the Omnibus is the way to go to get all the one shots and mini series to get the full experience. Thinking this more, the Mister Miracle Seven Soldiers mini-series probably would have been a better choice than the Dark Side Club tie-in’s or even Batman RIP.
I´ve read Animal Man, Doom Patrol, 7 Soldiers and Batman and like them all. Would you recommend Invisibles?? I´ve heard this is his weirdest work, so I´m not sure (I mainly read 80´s DC and Marvel comics).
Great review, I bought the first hardcover , and didnt buy the second because I think sometimes Morrison makes stories more complex than they should be. The result is uneven on my opinion. I have my doubts about buying this Omnibus, I will watch your video one more time to clear my thoughts.
This seems like something I would love to pick up, but calling Zattana a "c list" character is just bogus, lol. Zattana is definitely "A list" material especially since she trained with Bruce Wayne under her father. And is considered a huge threat if turned evil.
I love, love, love grant morrison and I was looking into this as background reading for Final Crisis, but the moment I heard Frazier Irving my heart sank. I absolutely hate his art style. My first experience with it back when I first read Morrison's Batman run, and I just did not like their inclusion of Irving's art. Def not looking forward to reading Klarion.
Damn :( Also that was quick !! This is why I recommend readers not to sleep on the volume one Batman by Grant Morrison omnibus as many want to buy in bulk when volume 3 drops.
great breakdown. i had no idea what this book was about.
Thanks man!
Had no idea this existed and hadn't heard of any of the characters except for Zatanna and Frankenstein but I'm sold. Great video.
Another beautiful video. Missed them, i love how you focus on the design and extras instead of showing them roughly. Can’t wait to see the next vid, and miss either the hauls!
Been on the fence but this sold me. Also, top notch production values as always.
Thank you!!

Thank you so much!!! Really appreciate the extremely positive feedback! You won’t regret it once you finish off the 30 issue epic with the Omnibus.
Comparison of the formats is what puts this on top of every other video review..well done, subscribed

Great review, and great comment about Morrison and character voice!
Just picked the omnibus up today. Looking forward to reading it. Looks awesome.
I think you'll highly enjoy it. If you want a follow up to the Mister Miracle Mini-series particularly, the Final Crisis Omni is the next chapter.
i just got my 7S Omnibus this week. it is so beautiful!

Wow! Thank you so much for the positive feedback!

Dude amazing video your voice alone make me want to buy the book and I think I will now lol xD
Awesome review! Will def need to check this one out. 👍 On the short boxes!
I don't know how I missed this video from you but I'll definitely have to pick this book up as soon as I can
As always, amazing video! I will be getting my copy next Wednesday 👍🏻
Let me know what you think after diving in!
This is a damn beautiful book. Sick 'till the end.
I read an article how this book is an essential read to Morrison's Final Crisis event.😊
Love this channel!!! Hell yes, already ordered

Great video! Surely getting this.
Wow. I didn't know Morrison could make his omnis use DBZ-styled Instant Transmission. It truly does transcend, man.
An expanse epic from the author of Animal Man, Doom Patrol, The Invisibles, Happy! , Kid Eternity, and the Justice League reboot of 1990; Grant Morrison is a beast with literature.
Flawless as usual man!

We need more videos maaaannnnn
I hear ya! One is dropping next Wednesday (release day for the book Im showing) and the following week I hope for the Final Crisis Omnibus.
Great review, I bought the first hardcover , and didnt buy the second because I think sometimes Morrison makes stories more complex than they should be. The result is uneven on my opinion. I have my doubts about buying this Omnibus, I will watch your video one more time to clear my thoughts.
It all builds up to a climatic finish despite being rather some what complex here and there. I personally enjoyed the second half more.
As always great video
Yes I this ordered on Amazon.
It’s been awhile but this book deserves a reprint ✌🏻
Your wish has been granted
hi ... great video... I have a question. How the double pages look on this edition? better same or worse than on the two HC?
Definitely worth the upgrade due to the oversized pages.
3:24 what is the name of that thing ? Comic box ?
BCW Comic Bins
Is this an essential read before final crisis? Great overview btw!
Thanks! Yes but to a degree. In my opinion, the Mister Miracle mini-series lays the foundation of the New Gods' being on Earth.
I love tomasi artwork
does anyone have seven soldiers for sale? omnibus / four volumes edition / two volumes new edition? (shipping to poland)
Sold the hardcovers for this :)
Definitely worth the upgrade!
Great video. So I subbed. Mine is en route.
Thanks!
Muito bom.
I'm only interested the Mister Miracle
This seems like something I would love to pick up, but calling Zattana a "c list" character is just bogus, lol. Zattana is definitely "A list" material especially since she trained with Bruce Wayne under her father. And is considered a huge threat if turned evil.

Nah, won't upgarde, have two HC'c and I like this format a lot. Getting omni doesn't make any sense for me.
Exactly. I am tried of this triple dipping.
I didnt buy this. I am kicking myself in the ass. It's out of print now
Damn :( Also that was quick !! This is why I recommend readers not to sleep on the volume one Batman by Grant Morrison omnibus as many want to buy in bulk when volume 3 drops.
Hey Alex, any moon Knight omnibus coming?
