    I have two turkish shotguns 😅 companies. I play skeet and clay shooting. But l was having to hit targets. I scrolled the net. And finally made my own adjustments kits . And fitted them to my guns obviously with the help of my local gunsmith. And finally succeeded in adjusting the combs according to my desires. 😅 totally success. Results are awesome. 😊

      Had one installed and the rear pin does not slide easily and it is very tricky to get the comb back on after sliding the pins for offset. I think the collars in the cheek piece are off center of the pins? What say you

  • @tadsmith477

    Very well presented! As you stated, adjustable combs are a great addition to most any shotgun. In most instances the re-sale value of it will be higher than its fixed comb counterpart because they are so flexible. I give two pieces of advice to up and coming competition shooters. First, buy a high-quality, purpose-built shotgun built to last through a career of competition shooting (i.e., Krieghoff K-80). Second, buy that shotgun with at least an adjustable comb to help with the physiological changes your body may go through during your career. Speaking from my own experience, the years from my 20's to my 60's was a rollercoaster with many changes in between. Custom stocks and bending stocks can be very cost prohibitive. Get an adjustable comb and "buy once, cry once".

      I have a Franchi Affinity, Benelli 828U and an Ignacio Ugartechea boxlock. The 828U is a recent addition so I'm still learning how to shoot it. The other two have been good workhorses for the years I've had them.
      I find Browning/Miroku very high in the comb so I tend to steer well clear of them. Beretta not quite as bad but still perhaps a tad higher than ideal.

    Can you give a height range that would fit that mfg one size? I'm 6' and the mrs is 5'5" and

It is worth noting however that game guns are often quite a bit lower (traditional game drop on an older Beretta is 38/60) and even an adjustable comb may not provide enough height. At 2:49, you are mounting the buttstock completely below your shoulder. Is that how you normally mount your gun?

    Always been lucky with my guns, my current clay gun mk10 competition sporter fits me like a glove, the adjustable offerings are all far too straight for me

    Why on earth would a manufacturer set the base comb height on an adjustable stock lower than a fixed stock? Seems counterproductive.

      @XLC-zd8dn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One of the reasons is because you may be buying an adjustable comb because the standard comb height is too high.

      If you look at modern sporting guns most people with adj combs only raise them to the point of the factory height, which is the idea of an adjustable to be shot as a monte carlo style stock for people who need that type of fit- if you start too high you lose the monte carlo fit

    I was with the impression tha guns tend to shoot higher due to the pitch

    • @eastfieldgunroom
      @eastfieldgunroom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment. You are correct that pitch can affect the height a gun shoots because it is to do with the position of the stock in the shoulder. Comb height is more critical though. Kind regards, Matthew
