That is awesome. Not too many people swap the FE into stuff like this. But I think it's awesome. I've always loved the old FEs. I have a 390 in my '74 F100 4x4. :)
theres a right way and a wrong way to break in a cam. im 99.99% sure this is the right way. and im also 99.99% sure that if you disagree then youre wrong.
I wish that guy driving would have done a few holeshots instead of donuts...I had a worked 390 +.030=396 in a 52 ford f1 pickup...I told the chevy guys that I had a 396 and when I opened the hood all they saw was a great big FE...my truck would rip low 14s@100mph on street tires all day long..I still have the truck but now it's powered by a dodge hemi...you guys keep having fun !!...I still do and I'm well past 60.
Cool Truck! I've never seen a FE Squeezed into a Ranger. As for all the "Big Block" comments, a 390 is not a big block. It is a FE motor which is a medium block which came from the term Ford-Edsel. The whole big and small block thing are Chevrolet terms. The big block if you prefer that term is a 385 series engine, which comes from the crankshaft stroke. Among these are the 370,429,460 and the 514. So not to rain on everyone's parade, I just hate hear a FE called a big block when it's not. I see this all the time especially on sites like Craigslist.
FE is A big block. I agree the whole big and small thing is typically chevy but an FE is A big block. Sure it's not a 385 series big block but it's a big block none the less.
@@BelacthePhat "vacuum or mechanical limiter", I think you might be confusing diesel "governors" with gas-fueled rev-limiters, two different things. @@AndieBlack13 mechanical limiter/ignition advance- some distributors had fly weights in them that would swing out at higher rpm and advance timing but would also limit the speed of rotor thus limiting ignition rpm. Vacuum would do essentially the same thing only with vacuum diaphragms.
I know that sound lol. I have a 352 FE in my 66 F-100. But I'm thinking about swapping it to a 5.0 H.O EFI motor because my truck is a daily driver and gas is outrageous for the big block.
You need to find a set of 67 - 68 gt mustang or 66 - 67 fairlane GT /GTA exhaust manifolds for it. Or a set of 67 GT cougar w/ps 3 pc Hooker headers will bolt up. but the last set I did they had gone up to over $580.00 bucks thats for the plain black wipe off paint
Hey so who did you go to for you engine mounts, or homemade? Also what trans did you use a c6? And what rear end and did you do anything to the frame? I'm about to build a 390 for this exact project. Just looking for help
iv got a ex cab 97 im doing a 390 s code swap on. tryed my best to find a v6 swb but dam they made to many 4 bangers for a life time shit its going to be a Mad max built anyway
hope you're doing it right. by that i mean something better than a stock 302. look up the rotsun on here. that's a junk yard mess but it's running a turbo off a powerstroke. looks like a fun toy if you're shots are up to date lol.
I got a question did you use the factory ranger harness to do it? or howd you wire it in? Please reply back this is what im gonna do with my 450 hp 390 and c6 trans.
I wish my '99 Ranger can do a burnout like that but all mine has is a 3.slow V6 lol sadly collecting dust cause it needs a few things fixed my current car is a '96 Corolla
Sweet ranger. If it was me though I would have put a diesel in it. Those big block engines just eat too much fuel for my taste. I would have dropped a nice powerstroke or cummins in there. Loads of power. Never the less, great truck
what kinda hood scoop do you have on that, im thinkin of putting a 302 5.0l v8 in mine, and did the 390 fit without having to modify the engine compartment and frame?
@rangerhiperf what exhaust system is on it? I gotta 390 big block with cam headers ntake manifold and 4 barrel carb, I have my exhaust coming out infront of the tires but Its all rusted out so im replacing it and looking for exhaust ideas.
it is if its done up right. i know someone who took a 390 and rebuilt it using modern day parts. its now a dual overhead cam, fuel injected, 500hp 390. milled heads, K&N cold air intake, and a bunch of other stuff that i cant think of off the bat. hes been running it in a 98 F250 for the last 3 years as a daily driver. hasnt had an issue
Stinger427NGX "not a good one"? FE Fords, 332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428, have as much potential as ANY wedge motor. A stock 390 actually weighs less than a stock 396. 427s beat the world in GTs at LeMans and in BB Cobras (the ultimate "shut your mouth" car). 428 cars were very dominant in the NHRA stock classes. The holy grail of muscle cars, Fords Thunderbolt Fairlanes had FE motors in them. The ONLY issue with FE motors on the performance side is the aftermarket never really got behind them.
Judging by all the stickers on the rear window, that thing is making some serious hp.
I love the sound of V8 Ford engines (old fashion)
ah the sound of pure power
RHEC Welder hell nah🤣
There are few things in my life that I feel I truly desire. This truck is one of those things lol
Yup, it's got that signature FE burble. LOVE IT!!

well that aint grandmas 4 cylinder
Mike Mike lalalaggfgftdg are you doing Jen
One of the best sounding trucks on youtube
Thats freakin awesome LMAo. Can't hide the sound of that FE Engine.
Big motor + little truck always makes for a badass vehicle
that is one bad ass truck u got there great job on going outside the box and building a beautiful machine like that mad props man
Can't beat the sound of a ford big block!

Quanysans You hold the engine at two thousand RPM for 20 to 30 minutes
Awesome build! Im about to build my 390 and put it in my 88 foxbody with 50% of the car fiberglass and light weighted soon.
crazy little truck and crazy driver!!
very nice!
hell yeah! man I dig it. I'm all about old torque engines. you make one go past 5K and you have a mean ride.
That 390 sounds sweet. I want to do something like that with my '66 F100.
the 390 is one of my favorite engines of all time!
haha looks like this video was fun to make XD
It's funny hearing that sound coming from a little Ranger. ☺
love the truck man. badass video too
Never thought I'd see an FE in a Ranger. Unique.
Damn! That thing EATS! 🤘😎🤘

I would give anything for that truck!
i think this is better than my v8 ranger burnout, damn, time to buy some gas and kick ass!
the motor seems weak or stock maybe just some carb adjusting needs to be done something dont sound right with that motor. oh well looks fun
It was only like half throttle I was feathering it
sounded like rev limiter or breaking up in the top end
@Richard Skipper back then as when? Vehicles have been coming with rev limiters since the 70s weather it be a vacuum or mechanical limiter

that thing is a beast

@bionikfocus05 Yes, 429 will fit with a lot of work
Damn dude! Nice ride.
will a 429 and c6 fit in a 96 extended cab ranger?
INSANE.... Love IT..
FE power! the sound of a screaming FE takes some beating. nice job :-)
Cool reminds me of my teenage years or I feel the need for speed.
We got a f1oo in the shop right now boy I can’t wait til we get it out with 390
if u let me do a couple donuts, I buy u a set of tires. love that Ranger!!
I like your stile FORD is the way to go! I bet it kills out there!
You can always tell the sound ofban FE Ford.. Especially at idle it just sounds big and throaty. Different than any small block.
thats one bad ass truck bro ! ! !
hey was it hard to put that 390 in it? can you just drop it in? or gotta do some cutting and wielding?
Hey so who did you go to for you engine mounts, or homemade? Also what trans did you use a c6? And what rear end and did you do anything to the frame? I'm about to build a 390 for this exact project. Just looking for help

iv got a ex cab 97 im doing a 390 s code swap on. tryed my best to find a v6 swb but dam they made to many 4 bangers for a life time shit its going to be a Mad max built anyway
I am going to pull the v6 out of my 1996 ford ranger and go with a 5.0 eventually
hope you're doing it right. by that i mean something better than a stock 302. look up the rotsun on here. that's a junk yard mess but it's running a turbo off a powerstroke. looks like a fun toy if you're shots are up to date lol.

427 cobra jet

wow, bad ass truck man congrats. do you have any build thread that I could look at I'd love to see more about your truck.
Kowalskideahl- that the aftermarket camshaft that gives it that rumble and u either have a 351m or a 400m motor if its factory correct
Like strapping a rocket to a shopping cart
how did you get the big block?
i really want to get one for my 99 ranger & your ranger sounds badass & sounds like a racecar
what did you need to do to do this? im about to try to do the same. i have a 390 fe and no ford ranger but will get one soon
Dude, that's awesome! How much did it cost to do that?
I have a 93 ranger have access to a 390 out of an RV with a three-speed Auto behind it any tips on putting it in please help

What exhaust do you have on it? sounds really good.
holy shit!!! thats all that needs to be said
That's one hell of a ranger, what's it run on the 1/4?
How much did you have to cut the firewall? Thinking of putting a 460 in one
thats a baddass ranger!
Lol this is totally the sound of the BF Injection from the older GTA games.
I wish my '99 Ranger can do a burnout like that but all mine has is a 3.slow V6 lol

So how hard was this ?? I have 5.0 explorer right now I'd like to do this to
I thought you couldn't put an old motor (without all the smog equipment) in a newer car... is it inspection passable?
Literally exactly what I want to do to mine
