A chick I work with told me she likes this band. I watched their new music video "stars" and thought it was really generic and boring. Later I decided to check out this video to see if they were more energetic live. I guess not. They remind me of Puddle Of Mud. Only more generic and boring. I didn't think that was possible. I was wrong.

decadepast decadepast how about you buy a album and give them a real chance I recommend conciseness

I already did. I checked it out for free on TH-cam. It was exactly what I expected th-cam.com/video/zgsXVVWEQSg/w-d-xo.html I only made it about half way threw till I got so bored with it that I had to turn it off. It's just not what I'm into man. I'm sure they're talented musicians, it's just this stuff does nothing for me. I know the old saying goes "If you don't have anything good to say...." However lately I've been branching out looking for new music and it just frustrates me when I find the same formulaic stuff over and over again.

decadepast decadepast I use to have a similar mind set as you. As I've gotten older I appreciate the simplicity of things. The old saying of less is more often applies to music for me. If you are a player I feel like their music speaks to you more because there are some subtle things not everyone would pick up on. Also I'd say this sound is very hard to find these days. I love his straight forward lyrics like on the vultures album. If you were a rock kid in the early 2000s it speaks to you. But I realize not everyone was. Music tastes always change over time I like to keep going back to old stuff because every few years I can hear it in a different light and it's like a familiar yet new experience. To me that's the best part of music. Only thing I like better is something that makes you feel and that's why I love their music it wakes up that angry teenager inside that was shoved aside.

I've actually always have had an appreciation for simplicity. And although I agree with you that their music is simplistic that's not my main problem with it. I used words like "generic" and "boring". Not simplistic. Some of my favorite bands play nothing but power chords and that's fine. However all these bands sound significantly different from one another. That's my problem with this band. They sound like a dozen other bands that really are not that great to begin with. In fact I find it kind of funny that you said "I'd say this sound is very hard to find these days." Because I know of a ton of bands that sound like this that are still around. Maybe you just don't get out enough. You also said "If you were a rock kid in the early 2000s it speaks to you.". That right there outlines what I'm saying. You just pointed to the early 2000's in general as if there was one specific kind of sound to it. There wasn't. However in your mind there was. There was a lot more bands like this that were popular back in the early 2000's but most of them haven't gone anywhere. In fact I've found there are more now then there's ever been before. They're just not breaking threw to the mainstream like they use to.

decadepast decadepast I never mentioned another band? Maybe you meant when I mentioned the vultures album? It's ses album not another band. I'm curious what other bands you would say they sound so much like? And if puddle of mud was your reference I can't take you seriously.
