I love this! Especially the question, "What would you do if you weren't running out of time?" I've felt this way for a long time because I'm currently working on my business full-time but it's not making enough to pay the bills, so the clock is literally running out on me. But I guess I just need to trust God to provide and think more long-term with my business.
"When you're good, time is your best friend. When you're bad, time is your enemy." Such a great quote! I literally just released a video today talking about this. Wish I had this quote for that video. There is no reason to be in a rush. The key is working smarter by thinking harder.
I needed this today! I have been struggling! I feel like you are talking to me! I constantly say to my students “It’s not a sprint it’s a marathon. It will all come in due time!” Why can’t I take my own advice? My problem is I feel I don’t have age on my side and I want my course to take off so I can have some freedom to visit and spend time with my Grandaughter. I feel like she will be off to college by the time I get there….
Thanks for this reinforcement. Since I have been posting everyday I have been getting more traction, especially with my shorts. My audience is my assets - thank you. I don't know about you but I am impatient. 😀
This video is one of the "4". On workdays, I'd take more walks, sit under the cottonwoods, let the river roll by and feel all of it - the outside and the inside. I'd stop worrying that the chance to succeed (really, to survive) is rushing past. And, I'd experiment more - use systems yes, but start sooner, playfully.
My God. I expected this to be a powerfull talk since the title resonated so much but I could not expect my reaction. In the middle of the video I just paused and nearly cried, hearing my inner voice telling to slow down and enjoy the process. I will do this. Man, why have I ever hustled? Probably to learn some day that there's another way. Thank you, Graham. I hope to gain wisdom from you tomorrow :)
Graham I've been following you for over a year now. I see your early videos were very helpful with actual tips and action steps that solve creators' early challenges. Can you do more relevant videos on topics you see inside the comments from the membership room? What works, what doesn't?Perhaps a revamp of early phases of the business? I literally have to go back to your oldest videos to get this content and I'm not sure how relevant it is still. For example you mentioned starting Facebook live to find your market and test it out. I've done your Automatic Income course and I could use more content on this. I need to find my audience and get one on one with them. I'm not getting engagement on my YT channel. Would FB live be it or now YT live? What do you recommend? Thanks!
I’m 22 and I’ve failed 4 business ideas (like truly made almost no money - less than $3k in a 5 year period) and I feel like I’m so behind cause I see a bunch of other young 20 year olds succeeding and it makes me wanna go harder but I know it’s not sustainable, especially as a woman. I hate that there’s so much pressure in society to hustle hustle hustle thank you for making these videos. I know they’re not the most popular topic, but we all definitely need to hear this and I appreciate the reminders that everything’s gonna be OK even if it takes me 10 more years to have my first big breakthrough.
This is the first time I hear someone say just dont run.. instead slow down and actually we can start our business without all the pressures If we slowed down.. thank you!
I really needed to hear this today because it's just me and I have a full time job and a family but I love my business and want to build it up but it's just growing soooo slow.
I was watching this on my tv and then grabbed my phone to come and comment! It’s like you made this video for me, it’s exactly how I’m feeling now trying to get my courses off the ground and not having a break! It’s really made my day and I’m glad I’m not the only one doing this right now! Everything makes a little more sense now!!
I always love your podcast, but this episode was my favourite! Exactly what I needed to hear as I'm trying to sort out how my business will change now that I have a baby 🙂 Thank you!!
Thank you for all videos. Your free stuff is more useful than the paid course I was in + I just got Kajabi and feel very satisfied with the purchase I am just transferring everything over there.
love love this message Graham. I started my channel Boss Well, because of these negative side of the business. I am a social entrepreneur the hustle culture is not sustainable, but the hustle noise is loud. I want to create business community to goes at your pace. Gosh I love your line : go at the speed of the season of your life”. thank you for sharing
@@GrahamCochrane@GrahamCochrane 😊, omg, you replied! Thank you again for your words. I needed to hear them. Sometimes, it can feel hard going against the hustle culture. But I see more influential people like you talking about slowing down, which helps. 👏👏
I decided to slow down and listen to your podcast at normal speed! :) I had a question while listening to this. What is the fine line between slowing down and procrastination? Later on in the episode I answered it so I will share it here and maybe others might find value in it. Procrastination happens when you STOP doing activities that lead you towards your desired result. Slowing down just means that I pay attention to my present moment so I can enjoy the ride and the work that I am doing which is taking me towards my desired result. Kind of like the turtle and the hare.
I do feel like I'm running out of time, which is why I'm hustling. However, if I didn't feel that way, I think I'd let fear and procrastination keep me from ever reaching my goals. Right now, I'm kicking those things in the face. Parkinson's Law, right?
Sorry to hear you're feeling like this and to hear about your illness. My heart goes out to you. My other Mum Joan had Parkinson's so please keep going as long as your body and mind will allow you to. ❤
@cathlloyduk oh no, I don't have Parkinson's disease. I mentioned Parkinson's Law, which is the name of an idea that work fills the time alloted for its completion. In other words, if you give a task an hour, it'll take an hour. If you give the same task a day, it'll take a full day. Graham talks about this a lot in his podcast. Sorry for the confusion! When I say I feel like I'm running out of time, it's for other reasons, mainly financial. If I can't turn things around, I'm going to have to go back to working a 9-5 as opposed to running my own business from home full time.

Don’t get discouraged! Momentum isn’t linear. At any moment it can takeoff!
I relate. A perk though of age is hindsight and that often shows us how staying the "course" can pay off. It will happen!

Really love the last point of building trust and that in itself takes time. That really drove it home for me.
“I had to go at the speed of my season of life…” 🤯 bruh.
Great perspective
Great stuff

At my rate I'll be dead before I see my online business supporting my family. 😅
Good word brother
