TBH I wish that these companies would stop using slider joints and just use the combiner wars style of hidden collapsing hinges. Those feel a lot more stable and longer-lived.
@@rickycuevas6479 Alternatively, if you absolutely insist on sliders on a giant figure like this, have spring loaded button locks. Hell, Super Minipla has a kit with leg sliders, and it solved the problem by simply having a panel with a tab fold onto the back of the leg, which then locks the sliding part in place.
I would have paid more for an alt mode that doesn't look like a '70 military truck and an actual base mode. Various vestigial parts (like the hangar-like sections in the legs) seems to indicate that the latter was considered at a certain stage. The robot mode is excellent but I am holding out for now, hoping in a revision that solves the legs problem.
I thought the feet were supposed to open as storage bays in star convoy, maybe that's what the pinned panels are for. And wow those legs are concerning.
Looks as if due to covid A LOT of corners were cut just to get these figures out as soon as, so it might be something to look out for throughout the coming year.
From what little I've seen of 3p stuff usually a 13" figure is a lot more expensive, so I'm wondering if they're just trying to keep the cost down? Optus Pexus is far smaller and not that much cheaper. Like I assume the fit and finish plus all the extra engineering on Pexus accounts for some of that? This thing is still expensive, but yeah I dunno.
Plastic & Oil prices are going up during the pandemic. Why they are raising prices & cutting back. Hasbro Explained it & neca toys. I am sure even 3rd party is suffering, Come to think of it too. We have not heard from fans toys too at all since spindrift.I think That too is maybe why some #P's are reissuing older figures cause of the pandemic.Hopefully now Things will get back on track.

It looks good. I agree about the knee issue, that needs to be resolved. You made one mistake about the gap between the cab and trailer. When you said the original didn't gave a gap I looked up the toy online and found it had a bigger gap between the cab and trailer. On the original what connected the cab and trailer was that top piece that had the shoulder turrents. Which by the look of it was more part if the trailer than the cab, meanwhile under thise turrnets was a huge gap maybe 1/2 inch gap or 1/4 inch gap between the cab and trailer. Check it out you'll see. Love the review.
Make up brush is good for dusting but wont get everything. Pressurized air /compressor at least once a year or ev 6 months or the dust will do serious harm to toy over long term. For cheap toys good oldwater and non marking cloth followed by towel off with paper towel is good too, (wiping, not immersion) but make sure to dry or water will lesve spots (minerals/chemicals) everywhere just like the dishes. Keep toys away from moisture too as eventually screws will rust.
He LOOKS really good, but I'm not going to be getting one. I don't have an attachment to the character or old toy, it's more expensive than I want to pay, and the knees are the straw that breaks the camel's back. I do like it, though! Good on MMC.

I think I'll keep my preorder just because the robot mode looks great, but maybe I'll have to prop it up or wait for them to release a fix. I'm also not concerned about the simplicity of this guy. He doesn't need to be complex. He's Star Convoy. It's not like he needs to do anything insane engineering wise. Surprisingly enough, the Takara Selects one is actually on scale with Super Megatron as the Star Convoy body is a massive new body for Optimus that towers over Powermaster Optimus Prime while Megatron is simply an upgrade of Galvatron's body similar to the Megatron-to-Galvatron upgrade.
I remember seeing the prototype at TFCon Toronto 2019, and it felt just to far away from their typical figure. Their Reformatted line is so unique and well thought out, and their OX G1 line has been fantastic and innovative with the combiner all in one. I see no reason why they need to venture in another line of characters/figures. Similar to other companies they need to stick to and what they know best and satisfy that market, like FT with masterpiece and IF with legend scale IDW.
I'm really unimpressed by the truck mode? I get its what starconvy looks like, but still, this looks kinda too much like a tonka. The gap peaugh mentions. The middle wheels look weird. Like they look like parts of a toy not part of a truck. The legs dont even try to look like anything but legs.
I think I'm ok with passing on this. Too hollow. No Matrix. It looks more like a Toy that a figure to display. It could really do with some Toyhax stickers. Those loose knee joints....
Would have easily paid double for a painted figure. Ocular hasn't put out this kind of trash in a while. Hard to believe this is the same company that put out Optus Pexus...
Just got mine today, and can report it IS possible to open up the pinned panels. Was able to do so with effort on mine. It's just not easy to do. The knees on mine aren't awful though they could be much better and they're easily the weak point on the toy. But HOLY COW his PRESENCE on a shelf. THAT PRESENCE.
his grey plastic his cheap looking, his alt mode is inaccurate, like the cab, it's suppose to be micromaster sized, with a GIGANTIC trailer, not this oversized cab, he has no gimmicks of the original figure i.e the base mode, nor any of the cool elements of it. the horrible pinned on wheels, this should have been on point to his design, and been a solid upgrade to the original, but no, a total swing and a miss. the original alt mode is pretty solid, this is a broken up, panel-y mess.
Come on MMC, we've seen you do better, complex figures than this! Hell, even looks like something Hasbro would make! It's not even that complex neither! 🤦🏼♂️

The fix is actually shipping with the figure. It takes a little tweaking, but it works.

No the opteus pexus is on the same level has other mmc products. He is not any better.
He's far beyond due to the sheer anount of articulation.
