Thomas is wearing the French Cross ring. In the original series, that meant he was married to Michelle. An upcoming episode will have Thomas working a case and photograph a boat where a blowup image shows a woman wearing his ring. The plot gets very complicated because Thomas thought she was dead and his friends never mention her because they don't want to bring up a painful subject. Higgins is torn between helping Thomas prove his wife is alive and the love she feels for him. Thomas and Michelle also have a child.
