The early version of "Riki Tiki Tavi" included in the CD "Donovan Troubadour" (The Definitive Collection 1964-1976). (no copyright infringiment intended)
Love this version of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. I bought Open Road upon its release, not knowing any of the songs, and loved it. It walked out with an ex-girlfriend in the late eighties. Six years ago I picked up a used copy in a 2nd hand music store, and it turned out to be my original copy. I'd gotten a cd copy , but I really felt the "circle" buying that lp back for $4,00. One of my favorite recordings by Donovan, one of my all-time favorite albums in general. Aged very well,
That is an incredible story!!! That really happened? Phenomenal!! Donovan is my all time favorite. I did not know the albums were worth so much. I have quite a few
groovy guru Maybe he is...maybe he isn't. Well back in the 60's anyhow. Shawn Phillips collaborated as a songwriter with Donovan on many tunes. Sunshine Superman was written by S.P. yet he never received credit or compensation for it. It may have been the record industry's fault, or Donovan's. But after several decades Donovan invited Shawn to perform on stage with him a few years ago (at the Royal Albert HAll). It's still too bad ....I'm pretty sure the royalties from that single tune would have made life a little smoother for Shawn. ;-)
Thank you So So So much for this! Anything like this that you have, I would love to hear more... It took me forever and I can't believe I found it! I searched and searched until yours finally came up! ♥️🕊️
Animascat, I simply loved your comment. I am a disciple of Allan Kardec's Spiritism and Jesus is our true father and leader. Allan Kardec is the pen name of the French teacher and educator Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail (Lyon, October 3, 1804 - Paris, March 31, 1869). He is known today as the systematizer of Spiritism for which he laid the foundation with the five books of the Spiritist Codification
Anyone else notice something rather strange about the group photograph at 2:50? The guy with the ginger beard and purple shirt standing between John and the Maharishi??
@@lesHanalala I had to look this up again, to see why I commented! I'm not sure I really go for the sarong theory, given that that 'print' has the exact same background colour as the surrounding ground, with a green plant growing out of the spot where his feet should be, but aren't. Instead there's shadow there where the plant is coming out of the ground, that lines up with the shadow on the ground between Mia Farrow and Donovan, and to the right of the guitar. It appears to be John's shadow, on the ground. No sarong, no Mike Love feet - as far as I can see, anyway. You could be right of course. Or he could be leaning in towards John while somehow keeping his legs off to the side, behind the Maharishi, and helping support himself on John's shoulders. There's a sort of flap that could be part of his baggy beige pants, or could be part of the Maharishi's robes... :-)
natural high is the best high in the world. laboratory synthetic stimuli only goes to fog up your third eye. searching for the truth in late sixties, some of my peers at the time read a book that was Tibetan mysticism, called the third eye by lobsang rhampa. astral projection and such. turned out to be very self serving and exclusive. was at the park and a very attractive girl, I admired, introduced me to the new testament. to this day i'm still blessed to believe in Jesus Christ.
Horses for courses. I think a mongoose motto would be something like watch this whilst I kill this 360 degree handlebar turn whilst grinding along this pole.
Interesting that he changed the line "everybody who saw the jungle book" to "everybody who read the jungle book" I know theres a movie and book, but i wonder why he changed it

Great story
Donovan's interpretation of Riki Tiki Tavi, one of my favorite childhood films.
Saw him many times. He used to turn up at festivals and play for free. Such a nice guy and believed in peace and love. We need this ethic back
Great version of a great song Donovan is a Groovy Guru

That's Mike Love from the Beach Boys
@@mickwilbury4572 Ah, yes I thought he looked familiar. But...umm...he appears to not have legs/a bottom half? :-D
Wearing a printed skirt or sarong, lol 😉

Lobsang Rampa is not the person he presents himself as. He is just one of many fakes desperate for a following (and money of course)
Can you name everyone in the pic at 2:50 and 3:50?!
I am scared of snakes, and I am a Pacifist.
How can I steal this recording?
Lol!
Alright.
Is this Paul Horn...🐸
Sounds like traffic with the flute.
Almost certainly Harold McNair on flute.
PAUL HORN...i believe 🐊
I thought I had a badass chin..guess not
I am. Esse. Go run, find out. In an English country garden. Gold.

Tripping in it. Loving it. Enjoy and remember the resurrection.
And the hangover.
It was good as it was; no need for Photoshop brainwashing.
