I believe it’s because many different reasons.. it brings upon arrogance, pride, ego.. and also that jewelry is usually (9 times out of 10) the property of the enemy
I took that Bible verse as saying that don't let that your pride and ego make you both about those things. Not that you can't read at all. Because my thing is why would God give his people with it and then make us go to hell for wearing it.?

Im very confused when people say we cant wear jewelry. God gave people jewelry and fine linen so why would this be a sin?
