Or you could do what I do and throw a small disc under the side stand when parking on soft ground. I keep one under the seat 👍. Seriously though another well put together video for modifying the scram. It's just something that I wouldn't bother with personally although I'm sure there are plenty of viewers that will
I have a plastic disc for that purpose, mostly for grass. My drive at home is 20mm limestone chippings, and while I could put a disc down each time, I’d be doing it a lot when getting the bike in and out of the garage, so this is just a little easier.
You succeeded But... I would (and have done to many bikes),, taken the stand off, straightened out the pointless bent up tab and spot welded a 5cm x 2mm disc on the bottom. Spot of paint and no postage or bolts sticking out. Looking forward to more Scram stuff, looks a really nice bike.
The stock sidestand is a bit small, Andre, like so many sidestands. An extension makes a larger footprint and is in my opinion absolutely necessary offroad. Good that you show alternatives and how-to install them. Cheers from Nürnberg/Germany, Günter
Great video! I had the same dilemma and after removing the tab and quite a bit of material from the top plate, it still didn’t fit, so I shaved about a millimeter off of the side of the tab/lip on the kickstand itself using a hacksaw and it seated in place quite nicely.
Thanks. I’ve been travelling for a few weeks (Ireland and Latvia) but will be home next weekend so will catch up. Next things are RE Touring mirrors and some LED indicators.
the bolt heads just sticking out at the bottom instead of laying flush against the last bottom plate seems weird to me. i believe there are similar extenders that look the same but have the bolts flush instead.
Yup. That would make more sense to me too. I suppose they add grip, but then the standard one is flat, so that would make sense. If it’s a problem, I’ll get some countersunk bolts and drill countersunk bits into the bolt holes on the underside. For now, I’ll see how it goes.
Any dual sport or adventure bike should come with an oversized side-stand foot from the factory. The manufacturers should realize this, as the bikes can be expected to be parked occasionally in dirt, mud, or gravel.
I have the same issue with the extender I ordered off of Ebay for my 22 Himalayan. Ebay said it would fit. I've had a few items that I have ordered that I had issues with that I won't be ordered from Ebay for accessories again.
Hi love your content on the new scram , and seriously considering purchasing one as a just get on and ride bike for weekend fun ,my main concern is im 6'3 and do suffer from a bit of lower back acne and was just wondering how you found the bike for comfort and manoeuvring around. At the moment i mainly ride classic bikes cl350 500 h1 z900 . So was just looking for a cheap bike that wasn't to big and heavy to move around and was still fun to ride with me being such a lanky git lol . many thanks
It is easy to move around and it’s surprisingly big. The bars are high too. I’m 6’1” and find it quite comfortable. You could always add risers if you need higher bars.
Yup. It would. All I’d need is the 2-3mm plate and something to cut it. I suspect these items cost a little more than the foot. I’m sure if you have the plate, and the means to cut and weld it, that is an option.
First off ,nice video , nice approach , problem, no solution, and work out a solution. Good thinking, also every time you take the bike off the stand , the lever meets the body with a definite clunk, there anything we can do to soften the sound, maybe some leather / epdm / pvc , please explore and do let know.
Is something making contact that shouldn’t? I’m away at the moment but will take a look when I get home. Perhaps some rubber or pvc sleeping might help?

Success is relative. This cat can be skinned several ways. 😁

Thanks. I’m sure a scram specific one will be along shortly.

It’s annoying isn’t it…
@@PeakMotorcycles definitely!
Looking forward for your new scram 411 content
Im enjoying it very well and also very helpful for me to do some mods in my scram 411 too.

@@PeakMotorcycles Beat me to it! Perhaps some slightly shorter bolts with domed nuts, would be nice!
I bought A himalayan one from Hitchcocks, one small mod and it fitted easily.
Great. May I ask what the mod was? For mine, filming it took longer than the modification!

They should, or at least make it slightly larger. Mind you, even my 1250GS didn’t come with one. Maybe some GS owners never leave paved roads 🤣

Annoying isn’t it! I wonder if there’s a different style of foot in India?
@@PeakMotorcycles my friend ordered a different one and waiting to see

Thanks for your reply , and yes i think risers would be worth considering .
It would be pretty easy to cut some 2-3mm plate to size and weld it on to the existing plate, or drill and bolt it you didn't have a welder.

I would weld an oversize plate to the stock foot.
Little bit of fetling bud top job👌🏻
Frustrating that it didn’t fit, but glad it worked out!
