Battlefield 2 and the special forces expansion was my first taste of online multiplayer FPS. It’s a game close to my heart and still to this day I still have the CD😀. No micro transactions , and very little social media back then . After bad company 1 and 2 and bf 3 everything went downhill 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Blame the fans. They accepted it was ok to call Hourglass a new map for three months before DICE did. This terrible fanbase enables this kind of marketing

They are taking lessons from WoT/Armored Warfare. Remove a thing, reintroduce it again later
They only called it new content because Reddit did that for three months. DICE never said it was new. They showed a clear image of a map with Qatar dead center and told us of a Stadium rework a year ago. Reddit decided to come in their pants about it and call it new, in typical fashion.

As a tanker i couldn't get more thrilled that i'll have to watch out for a stealth bomber and the sraw, THORS, JAVELINS, C5, M5, RPG, HELIS, FLYING SUNDANCES, RAO, OTHER TANKS, DRONES, PLANES, MAVS AND THE HECTIC CRAZY RICO PENGUIN WHO MAKES SUSHI.
2042 combat is just ass all the way around. Its not fun as armor or infantry.
@CMDRFandragon As infantry you will randomly get merked by vehicles and you cant do anything about it because there were no vehicles before you spawned so you didnt bring an anti vehicle, and when you do, someone else takes out the vehicle first so now you are in a gadget disadvantage. If you play vehicle you get merked by another vehicle or infantry in a few seconds of game
i was actually happy when they showed little love to the tanks with improved movements, feels way snappier but hell, they add a good feature to the game and then they feel the need to counter balance with 3 bad decisions for noobs not to learn tanks the hard way but to take them out more easily and feel instant gratification. because it's all about the dopamine process, right? not the learning curve. i have learned to tank in more than 12 years, on 5 different battlefield games, i think i was entitled to a little force of nature destruction frenzy on the battlefield. it's not like there are hundreds like me. we tankers are very very few and we mostly know eachother from other titles also. it was a sign of respect to go head to head with another tanker and crush or be crushed. but now, any noob, any low level kid bot can go full Rambo on a tank and Dice don't care about real fan base.
@@PharaoahMonk FFFuuuuu, I tried the new tanks. It honestly felt like an over correction in the other direction. Before, the tank felt like it was stuck in mud, now its so touchy is just as hard to control the tank, as it over steers so hard. Like, how did modern games get driving so wrong? You either got vehicles that feel like they are always on ice, or they are stuck in mud. Give me 1942, BF2, 2142 driving where your vehicle just feels like your driving.......like you dont have to think about driving, you just drive........
Change the word “tank” to “heli” and you have the same situation. AA kills you in seconds across the map, and good luck dodging all the infantry tv missiles every 15 seconds. Very unsatisfactory infantry and vehicle gameplay. That is why I quit the game after season 4, which was the content I was duped into preordering. My life is so much happier now. That should be a huge statement and warning to Dice. MY LIFE IS SO MUCH HAPPIER FOR NOT PLAYING YOUR GAME.
The way I see it:
It's already mid march 2024, they release S7 next week. At launch there will be one map (as "normal"), then release Stadium later down the line and drag us through the mud for 8 months (based on how much dead time was added between S5 and S6).
It's october-november 2024, they release S8 with 1 (2 if they can glue together other parts of already existing maps), keep it for some months until they are ready to announce Battlefield 2025.

I find it funny they added more content and put more effort towards the battlepass then the actual season, really makes me think what is happening behind closed doors.
What's happening behind closed door is a minimum amount of devs working on 2042. Of course the graphic designers responsible for skins are not really needed on the next game yet, so they can keep them printing out terrible skins and making the cash. Classic dice/EA move. For them, microtransactions are content.

BF2042 is terrible and I only play it because of more casual friends that got into PC gaming...
Qualitywise BF2042 is just garbage and EA knows it so theres almost no devs working on it anymore and they mostly moved over to work on BF6 (which is probably also going to be a dumpster fire)

The issue is that most of us aren't geographically challenged and knew from the very start that NO ONE was getting more than one new map. It's your fault for thinking so highly of DICE and most likely responding with verbal abuse anytime anyone told you that Hourglass is not a new map, don't expect two new maps from DICE. Then you blame DICE for giving you 20 seconds of hope of "2 new maps" in the trailer. Y'all were repeating that for three months after they clearly showed Hourglass as a location for S7 in December.

The only reason they have customers to sell to is that no one with enough cash to make a AAA budget game has tried to make a competitor, Which lets face it could be mid and would still bury Battlefield before its out of beta.
Most other games companies expect more more work in a week from an employee than Dice appear to expect in a year from a whole team.

I'm just gonna assume that there really isn't many devs working on BF2042 ever since it's horrific launch. They must have most working on the next title with a few holding over content for 2042 until its life cycle is over.
They'll delay the stadium map just enough to call it Season 8

I haven’t played in well over a month because the last time I played for a couple hours my team was literally getting destroyed every match thanks to horrific team balancing…
It still ain’t fixed, don’t bother coming back lol. But seriously, the bots that are in the lobby do better than 25% - 50% of my team each game. Bots should have never been added

My question is: Why are these game companies still bringing out new games instead of putting all past maps etc into 1 game? Just give us 1 game that we can play any way we want. Give me all the BF3 maps, BF4 maps etc... And have Seasons for the game's income. Of course bring out new maps, but have everything integrate into 1 platform
Arica Harbor is meant for 16/16 (24/24 max). Even 32/32 is too much because disrupts the flow (thats why most players camp). If you play it as intended is actually super fun map. You can destroy the buidlings so camping is not that big of a deal. One of the best BF maps. The City was perfect for competitive in BC2.
Yeah as a BC2 addict back in the day. I totally agree. But maybe that's cuz I played on Xbox and 16v16 was standard then. But I do think 24v24 works too.

I was offered this game for free. I declined getting a free game for the first time in my life.
I think I’m at a point now that I’m just happy I experienced the older Battlefield games. I was able to experience Battlefield in all its glory without this hero shooter stuff they going for now.

I have a question, i don't know if making a map is difficult, but when you see the map haven for an example, you just see buildings and some flowers put here and there and for the rest it's just a flat map so im kinda curious to know how they can give us 1 map every season since launch when it really doesn't look that hard to make a map? And by the way im pretty sure they are a LOT to make the map so what the fuck does them take so long? Im really curious to know because i just don't understand it, i really don't, i already saw some videos of ' The program to make games ' and if for an exemple the buildings are ' Samples ' you just click on the sample and put it in and then make some changes to it, what does them take so long ? It is pretty pathetic. I said when this game came out, the maps are too large. I also said that each of the base maps could have been easily split into 2-3 smaller maps (with some more assets added to each) and this would have been an easy content fix. Hour glass and break away could have easily been 3 maps each. They failed to do this for multiple years and now they want to make the stadium its own map?! They could have released the stadium years ago. How long does it take to make a map where you are only changing the playable area?!
Let's call it what it is. The devs were not gonna give us a season 7. After seeing the success of season 6, they were surprised and wanted to keep the momentum going. But they were not prepared for a season 7. As such, we got this lazy mess.
Instead of the SPH Laucher, they could've added the Russian 9K38 Igla Launcher. Instead of Stadium, why not Metro 2042/Firestorm 2042? Remember how you could destroy houses/buildings, make ditches with C4/explosives🧨?
We need a modernized (in terms of looks like buildings and pavement) of Amiens. Great map.

Imagine showcasing destruction, but it’s literally assets from BFBC2 that’s in Portal. I bet whoever is in charge, is that much of a tight ass, they use their teabags 2 or 3 times before discarding.
How have the current DLC pathetic standards come to be? The standards have really crashed, back in BF3 and BF4 we got 4 maps + weapons and vehicles with each new DLC drop, For example:
China rising - 4 maps, 5 new weapons, 1 new vehicle, new game mode.
Second assault - 4 maps, 5 weapons, 1 vehicle, new game mode.
Naval strike - same as above.
Final stand - 4 maps, 2 weapons, 5 attachments, 2 gadgets, 4 vehicles
Dragons teeth - 4 maps, 5 weapons, 2 gadgets
Compared to:
BF2042 season 7 - 2 maps*, 4 weapons*, 1 vehicle. (And of these, some will even be delayed) 🤣
