It's always a good day when I see content from Piney Grove! Just a wealth of knowledge, great communicator, and loving the journey!
Thanks for the support!
@@PineyGroveHomestead it is easy to support good people, content and great videos! Keep them coming sir!
I have 11 acres of land most is pasture. I bought a Kioti CK 2610 loader 4 wheel drive with bush hog. It’s dang near perfect 👍🏻
I have a Kubota B2601. I use turf tires because I live in northern Maine and need winter traction for snowblowing and mowing pasture and lawn in summer. R4's are not good in cold weather. Hard, doesn't sipe snow/slush and very slippery. No experience with the newer R14's, but dealer recommended turf over them and they have worked well.
Good point....I've seen videos of R4s sliding on snow. We don't get snow here!
Thank you for this! My wife and I are just at the point we realize we need a small/compact tractor for jobs around the farm and you give so many helpful, hard-won considerations for us as we don’t have experience with this. We too are escapees from the corporate jail, we love our farm/homestead chores but at our age (50-ish) we need some equipment to lighten the burden! Thanks again, very helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Here's a playlist with lots of tractor action: th-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
Great tutorial Brad. Comparison information between brands and models is often difficult to come by. I wish there had been similar informative videos before I bought my first tractor. Keep them coming. Happy St Patrick's day!
Thanks for the support! I'd rather be on a tractor than just about anywhere else! More tractor vids here: th-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
I have a Kubota L3301. I love it. It does all I need. 5 ft brush hog, 6ft Lands plain, 6ft grader blade.
Fueling I have a Old bath towel. Folded up. I sit a 5 gal diesel jug on towel and tilt jug over to funnel. When down to 2 gal pick up jug and pour.
Here's what I do to fuel a Kubota: th-cam.com/video/vFew1c1cWHo/w-d-xo.html
Kubota talked me out of getting a kubota. The difference is a 2502, 3302, and a 3902 is the tune on the motor. Identical motors, frames, loaders, weights, everything. I was throughly confused when I read the specifications. But it all made sense once I realized they’re charging you $10k+ dollars for a code on a computer.
The 2502 is not the identical motor but the 3302 and 3902 have same displacement. Yes, everything else is identical. Been like that on the L Series for decades.
@@PineyGroveHomestead same motor with .4” shorter stroke on the 2502 I’m really wanting a kubota but can’t pull the trigger. The sub compact space has lots of competition and you gotta sort through the marketing to see which is the best for what you need. That’s currently where I’m at. I’m on the same page as you though. Buy once cry once. I’m sorting out what hp I need too
@@Dogonatree Kubota and John Deere have gotten out of control with their pricing!
John Deere dealer is 2 miles away Summit dealer 250 miles away easy decision for me
The 39hp and 25 lift the same. But the 39 hp can push loader into a pile much stronger.
Less stalling if your working it hard
Super info - looking to purchase my first tractor to replace the 1956 Massey Furgeson that came with our property. Lots of great nuggets that I will review numerous times. Thank you.
Glad to help! Here's our tractors in action you might find useful: th-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
Excellent tutorial. Very thoughtful. Thank you.
My JD 2025 is not perfect, but I use it a lot, and it beats a shovel.
For sure! Shoveling is no fun!
What an absolute great overview!! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great information! Finally on my 3rd purchase I have the tractor I want JD 4044R cab with the 3rd function! Heat/AC is great!
That's a great choice. It's at the top of my list if I upgrade!
1-Farmall AV, Best cultivating tractor ever, $2,000
2-8N Ford or Massey gas (Electronic Ignition Upgrade) 3pt equipped and parts are everywhere, $2,000
3-Case 580 loader backhoe, say no more, $8,000
NEVER LOSE YOUR MONEY, When time to sell, just my humble opinion
If you buy them right, you will never lose money on a used tractor if you take care of it.
I wish I had seen this video before I purchased my BX four /five years ago. I thought I knew a lot about tractors and apparently I didn’t know squat when I bought my tractor, It had a pin on bucket I never even thought about other implements until after you buy it.
Sometimes we just don't know what we don't know! My first 3 tractors were pin on buckets and I knew about SSQA!! The good news is that tractors hold their value pretty well, so selling and upgrading isn't that costly. Good luck tractoring!!
I use a battery operated fuel pump with a 5 gallon can they are sold at tractor supply and most hardware stores I set the can on the tractor seat of my 1023 and use the pump to transfer the fuel
We need a big fuel transfer tank! One day maybe! More tractor videos here: th-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
Very good advice for potential new tractor buyers, take care.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Very good overview of the different tractor sizes. I honestly didn't think this video would be worth watching, since this type of video has been done soooo maaaany tiiimes and aI have a prettt good understanding of tractors myself, but you proved me wrong... yet again.
Keep up the great work. You'll get there soon enough.
Thanks for the kind words. We tried to make it interesting and cover everything that would be important to a tractor buyer!
@@PineyGroveHomestead ya did good sir
Bought my Branson 2515h last year for our 10 acres. Bought it used with a backhoe, tiller and box blade for under $20k. I’ve since bought a mower. Looking to add a post hole digger when I can.
Bought all of it off marketplace.
Haven’t had a chance to do much with it until we can move out there.
I bought this as I can up the fuel pump to up the HP after the warranty is up.
We bought all of our equipment used as well! Thanks for watching.
Just found your channel, love it!
Glad you enjoy it! Here's our tractor playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
Good video, thanks. Kubota needs to up their game in this class of tractor (65-70in wheelbase). Kioti is crushing them by offering a cab, side by side pedals, dual rear remotes, and more lift capacity in the same frame size. With Kubota you either have to go down in size to an LX or up in size to a Grand L to get a cab.
I think the L3902 with a cab would be really nice! th-cam.com/video/p0P6_vgrufU/w-d-xo.html
Very well done, Sir. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Nice job
Thanks, brother! And thanks for the tractor clip.
Extremely informative! Thank you so much!
I think for a small farm. A midframe tractor will be just enough in horsepower and ground clearance. If you get the right implement, any brand will do you write? As long as you have dealer support for that brand in your area you'll be fine
I've not needed a dealer for anything other than oil! Parts and filters I get online!
A large farm of 10,000 hectares (in Africa) intends to mainly grow cassava. What kind of agricultural machinery should I buy?
Turf tires are perfect for me
Very good video. Much appreciated.
Thanks. If you would like to see our tractors in action, here's a playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
Just to let you know I built Kubota Tractors in Ocala Florida you do not lose power at all tractor is good to go same power as long as you got it up to where it's supposed to be on the PTO that's a 49 horsepower tractor 4901 is a 49 horsepower tractor 3901 is a 39 horsepower tractor
Kubota specs directly from Kubota have the L3901 at 37.5hp with 30.6hp at the PTO with the hydrostatic transmission. 32.1 hp at the PTO with a manual transmission.
Wondering if you could do a video with the Bob cat tractor
I think they are just a rebranded Kioti tractor. My friend Brock at Rockhill Farm had one for a demo: th-cam.com/video/pOzVi8wCXoo/w-d-xo.html
Very informative. Thank you.
Glad it helped.
At about minute 26, what is that you’re using to mow the grass on that JD? I’m very much a newbie, so please pardon my ignorance.
It's a sickle bar mower. Full video here: th-cam.com/video/HDmVxpDuHAM/w-d-xo.html
How about a transmission discussion including horse power loss thru a hydrostatic.
That's a fact! Hydro has that limitation but personally, I don't want a tractor with anything other kind of transmission.
Thanks for the information. 👍🏽
You bet! More tractor videos in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo3RVqEuA0f6IioXV6FtFhHW.html
I am torn between the TYM T25, and the Summit . Both are comparable price. TYM has a Yanmar engine, Summit has a Mitsubishi engine. As far as a cab goes, yea you have to be a little more aware of tree limbs and such, but would you rather those limbs hit you in the face instead?
In a perfect world, we'd have 2 tractors, right?!!! Thanks for watching!
Pick the tractor with good and close dealer support and a brand with a long track record of parts and support availability. I would only buy a brand that builds their own tractors instead of a relabeled box store type. In my opinion the most important factor.
If you're doing alot of ground work such as tilling, disc, plow etc I would get a gear driven of some sort..hydro screams too much and gear has much better pulling power.
It's a trade off. I never want a gear shift tractor with a clutch but I understand the situations they are better in.
very informative, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
My son fabricated a grapple for my wife's tractor. JD wanted over $800 for a third hydraulic control. We engineered an electric diverter valve for about $150. P.S. She compared her JD to a Kubota and she found the JD to be far superior to the Kubotas.
Ford vs Chevy, right?!!
@@PineyGroveHomestead Sure. We are GM/Ram and JD/CIH around here.
thanks
Thanks for watching!
My L3130 I noticed a leak of oil on the tire.
Can I check the level in it and if it does happen to have the original hydraulic in it.... Is it okay to just top it off with the 90 weight gear lubricant even though that's a different then the hydraulic which may still be original to the tractor? I'm asking about just topping off at this point, although I'm slowly learning everything and will look into changing the front axle fluids as I don't know if this was ever done before. Thank you!
I would check it but since it's just drop of oil the level is likely fine. I wouldn't mix the original hydro oil with 90W if I could avoid it but I can't see it messing anything up. It's just differential gears not a complicate transmission! Here's where I changed my axle lube: th-cam.com/video/EuZOWC_dELo/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! 😊
I have the L2501DT (dt is non hydrostat) it has way more power than the HST. It has no emissions. my dad has a L3901 and the 2501dt has more power when pulling a brush hog or plowing. there both 2023 models.
And it's quieter too!
good imformation ty

I'm trying not to shop! The Kubota L-series would be a strong contender if they came with a cab!
So a Kioti?
