Where can I find the apex? On my measurements? How do I know where that point is?? I am Dutch.. best regards Bianca
Hi Bianca. Well, in this (brief) demo we assume that you already have an existing pattern which already has the apex somewhere on the pattern. If not, you would have to try to figure out where the apex would be. This exercise shows the Principle of GRADING: the idea is to "find" the center of the pattern and then expand/enlarge from there. This is totally wrong Im a designer,Grader, pattern maker, marking maker,sewer, cutter... and GRADING is a bit complicated, stay in school, watch 100's of videos and you'll see what i mean.

Thank you I took Fashion design and ended up with an associates of science degree in fashion design.
Unfortunately I was just getting into my 3rd year circular and didn't get to finish the four year degree. So I didn't get to get into fashion forecasting or grading patterns. But I did go purchase that class book on Grading so do believe I can handle it. That was a great illustration of it. Between that and the class book I think that will help.

@@ninovia1 a private college which Clem Stien started called the International Academy of Design and Merchandising. I was in school part time non stop for 8 years before graduating with a 2 year degree. Here is 3 of my designs live on the runway.

There are software programs that do grading, programs such as Lectra, Tukatec, Gerber, etc. (but you have to know how to use those programs...).
