Set one up for an outdoor medical fair last week and the uppers just needed Wi-Fi about 100-150 feet away from our exterior building. That unit pumped it across our entire property into the field about 500 feet away. Just a slick piece of kit.
I made this exact change you did hardware wise. My system is backed with a 1gb up/down fiber connection but am able now with the u7 outdoor to blast that through a heavily wooded area 300' to my front yard. The AC mesh with the direction antenna did ok but this is far more powerful and has enabled me to not have to run a solar powered AC mesh in my front yard to get consistent speeds over 200mbps
Hi, I have a question. Can U7 outdoor be used in mesh mode? Just supply power to U7 outdoor via PoE adapter without connect it to any network switch. The U7 outdoor will have to mesh with other access points in the network to provide internet access.
Would love to have seen how far you could push the signal for speed and at the limit for text comms in case of emergencies etc... also wondering what the signal area breadth is.
😂 It's still the official Speedtest by Ookla, what you are seeing is a easter egg they did many years ago to honor Ookla the Cat www.cultofmac.com/news/ookla-speedtest-easter-egg
Wow what an amazing range. I need this for a few clients
It worked great

Yes
Thank you! I’ve been waiting and watching for this video.😃
Apologies it took a bit longer than anticipated, I needed to do some reshoots and this location is far away. Hope it's helpful!
@@tabGeeks Yes, VERY helpful because my U7 Outdoor is arriving TODAY. 😊
@@angelsoul3359 oh PERFECT timing then! It's a cool device, enjoy!
So, it blasts the signal in the direction its logo is facing? Does it still provide _some_ connectivity on the sides and behind?
If you install the included antennas, you can change the settings to broadcast 360 instead of the sector antenna straight out the front
@@tabGeeks but then the forward reach will be reduced? Or can you get both the insane forward range and _some_ 360 degree coverage?
Thanks
@@-blackcat-4749 Nope it's basically an either or. You might get some signal behind it but not as amazing as in front
How’s the connection when it rains or snows?
Very usable. Even during a blizzard that dropped 5 feet of snow, it hardly cut out at all
An impressive performance if U7!
Just wondering if you have to force U7 to use the ghz wide band channels or these a selected automatically?
You can do both
Very cool. I want one. *lol* Unfortunately, I just checked, and they're sold out.
Thanks for the video.
Lakes are very well known to be great environments foe WiFi. Over land not so much.

I'll have to do a follow up, but take a look at coverage of hurricane helene, many starlinks are being used for this exact usecase
Good test, would be interesting to see whether you were connected to 2.4 or 5GHz and what the RSSI was that far away for both frequencies. Nice work
I will have to include that in future videos, thanks for the feedback.
@@tabGeeks Sure thing! A screen recording of Wi-Fi Man would be awesome.
can anyone please tell me what is up with his speedtest app because that is not speedtest by Oolka

you should do a local speed test with laptop to see actual speeds with iPerf
Good idea. I didn't have the infrastructure there to do it but maybe I'll do a follow up
