Today our guests try Kwetiau Chasio, Roti Srikaya and Kembang Tahu.

As Kalimantan native, actually Kembang Tahu here doesnt use ginger. It’s kembang tahu in Java using ginger. In Pontianak, kembang tahu is sweet mix with kedelai and cakue topping.

Yep, Kembang Tahu(Bean Curd) in Kalimantan Uses Soya Milk As The Water n Sprinkled With Kind of Brown Sugar On Top, The One in The Video are Wedang Tahu (Ginger Bean-Curd) and it's from Java Style not Kalimantan Style, Cuz They Copying Kalimantan Idea n Changed it a Bit to Fit More to There Style and Here They Go Make Wedang Tahu n Call it Kalimantan Style Just To Attract Outsider Customer, In Reality is Java Style.. Marvelous episode, Laurence. Tell Jacobo I love the way he talked. Just a bit comment on his when he said that kwetiau looked like pasta, from what I learned is that historically the Italians learned from ancient Chinese people how to make their pasta, such as ravioli that is similar to Chinese dianxin (Mandarin term for dumpling, or called Dimsum in Cantonese language), and spaghetti that is similar to Chinese mian (noodle). Above all, admiring the guys skill in handling the chopsticks!

In Kalimantan, you can try other dish that also represents Kalimantan traditional dish such as nasi kuning, ketupat kandangan, soto Banjar, sayur singkah, umbut rotan, Ikan and udang sungai bakar, ikan seluang goreng, etc. For dessert you can try traditional slice cake like Amparan Tatak, putri keraton, lapis india, etc. You can browse it for much more information. The difference between Kwetiau or internationally known as Kway Teow which are chinese influenced (and available in whole of indonesia actually not specific to Kalimantan) compared to tagliatelle is that the base ingredients of kwetiau is rice flour vs normal flour for Tagliatelle. Kwetiau are less dense and more chewy compared to pasta, and Chasio or also known as Char siew Internationally are basically Chinese Pork BBQ.
The main difference between Indonesia Kwetiaw Chasio and international kway teow are the sauce used which are locally sourced in Indonesia (E.g : Kecap Asin)
