  • In this video, I show how I kept going on a painting that I almost gave up on!! In the past, I would throw away the painting, but I have learned to NOT GIVE UP. Keep going, take risks, play and use your "What I LOVE List"
    If you have ever thrown away a painting you hated BEFORE you kept going, give this video a thumbs up.

    Cheryl I absolutely love this video! I can definitely relate and I have learned that there really is no such thing as a failed painting - it's just not finished yet. And learning that gives an artist so much more freedom to play and experiment! Thank you for being brave enough to share this. Knowing there are successful artists that also sometimes struggle with a painting yet don't give up is so helpful and encouraging.

      Oh Kelly, I am so glad this was inspiring to you. I have one more to share that I started that same day.... that is along this same vein. I appreciate your comment.

    Cheryl, thank you again for this. I am so critical of my process. But, I will work thru it. You are a great example of not giving g up

      You are so welcome! I still give up at times but what helps is my go to is list of "things I love" and marks I make that are my go to marks. thank you for sharing your thoughts

    Thanks for sharing Cheryl! I really like your abstract style! I still find abstract difficult, and throw away a lot! (Is it strange that for me realistic is more easy......? Allthough I love abstract much more!)

      Abstracts are hard, but keep working on it, it will click at some point.... I just posted another video like this one that might help. One thing I find that helps is to have different shapes, different sizes..... it is more than that, but when I applied those things it starts to take on something I can like.

    I’m always inspired by watching your process. Such a great message. I find it so validating of my own process! I love to say if I don’t love what I’m working on, I’m not done. I would love to hear how you seal your paintings.

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First, if there is graphite, charcoal, pencil, I seal with a final fixative to keep the marks from not smudging. Then I wait until I sell MOST pieces and ask the collector if they like Matt or Gloss and almost always use a spray. I like sprays more than paint on sealers. to make things easy, I have a link here: www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-86910b03 on finishes. I use Krylon a lot, other sprays are ok, but I like Krylon, I spray outside and do an even spray one way, then wait about 15 mins and do a spray the other way. I hope this helps
