    Thank you for sharing your experience. Not new to 3D printing but new to the idea of selling.

    Good job using the image alt description. It also helps your Etsy SEO if you use descriptive titles for your image names. Thanks for the videos sharing your process!

      Yup and finding the photo later is way easier. As well as it helps google also catalog your etsy to help bring store visitors in. Crawlers very much look at photo info and can many times have a HUGE impact on findability, as a quality photo file name can help have a higher rating in their overall score system. Alt text is great for accessibility but isn't used for a lot outside of that, while file names can get pulled often for google results directly.

    Video was perfect, I'm just starting out with the business side of things, not a stranger to 3D printing or CAD, you had the right amount of details in there with some very helpful tips, will be taking notes :) Using AI for the backgrounds and descriptions etc is a game changer, anything to improve efficiency is a big plus in any business.

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Glad it helped you out and you found the AI tips useful! It’s definitely not perfect, and the descriptions do sound somewhat AI written, especially with the emojis and what not, but if you can use it as a tool, combine multiple iterations together or like i said in the video, make a duplicate listing with a different set of photos and a different title and see which one does better. TH-cam does a similar thing with thumbnails, some of you will see one, while others see a different one for the first 14 days to see which one performs better.

    Can’t wait to watch this! I have a decent marketing background but photography has always been my weak point.
    Sorry if it’s covered later, but could you make a short video on video-creation? It seems like the short clips on Etsy listing greatly helps with SEO

      Thank you very much! I do miss the woodworking side of it sometimes, but not as much as I thought I would. I still get to use my CNC and have a new laser engraver that just arrived so I hope to bring more of that to the channel

    One thing to help you with your tags. Any word or combination of words like (paint, paint bucket, painter,) will only count (in Etsy’s eyes) as one out of the 13. Yes, you are adding 13 tags, but it’s only going to use paint, it won’t use painter to spread the wealth to more people. Does that make sense? It’s in their algorithm. You need 13 separate words that aren’t the same or similar. It just helps get your stuff out better.

    I just browsed Etsy for these and compared other listings to yours and I'll say that I might pass over these images as a customer because they trend a little too far towards looking like a drop shipper as opposed to hand-crafted with the background you used. I think the background looks a little too photoshop/AI and it would be worth your time to set up a little mini-studio light box for your camera - particularity since you have that tripod and black background halfway there already. Just my 2c. I do think you're spot-on with the discount strategy. I wonder if Etsy would start to crack down on this is it becomes standard to always "discount" items?

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I appreciate you taking the time to provide that feedback. I can definitely see where you are coming from there, i try to use backgrounds that are similar to what the product is, for instance, the dumbbell card holders are in a gym setting. The photo i currently use is customer supplied, but the original one was generated by Photoroom and looked just like a gym in the background. It’s hit or miss and i may go back and change the actual image listings down the road depending on how they do. My original plan for the background was a garage, or school setting but that kind of detail works best when you are doing a single image at a time. Thanks again!

    Hello curious i. Was looking at files of paint bucket it has money sign on bottom do edit that

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If you are looking to sell it and don't want the designers branding on the bottom, you can cut the bottom part off in your slicer before printing. Be sure to check the license type on other models to make sure you are allowed to modify the file first. In this case, you are free to modify it, use it for commercial purposes, etc as long as you give attribution to the original designer.

    Did you have to license the item from the maker? I don't think you talked about that unless I missed it.

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It is a free to use file as long as you attribute it in your listing description somewhere. I have another video on where to find files that you are able to use for commercial purposes using both free models and paid subscriptions.

      @@TheMountainMakerI’m not an attorney but I believe the “free to use” license in most 3D printed listings for STLs has to do with personal use. I don’t know that that license gives you permission to sell the items for a profit. Again, I’m not an attorney, but I’m pretty sure that most designers of 3D printed items (myself included) wouldn’t appreciate folks selling their work for a profit. Kinda makes sense, right? They spent the time to design it and why would anyone with a 3D printer be able to take their design and push the print button to make a profit. Maybe there is an attorney watching the video that could chime in.

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Depends on the license type. If you go back and watch one of my previous videos, i go through the different sites such as printable, maker world, etc and even show a message from a designer to myself when i first started selling! The Creative Commons licenses give you the ability to license your work for personal, non-commercial, commercial however you please.

    How much is chatGPT?

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's $20/month. There is a free version available but there are a few limitations such as peak use times, so during times of heavy use, you are limited to the number of responses you can generate and you wont have up to date information as far as its knowledge base but if you are just using it for listings and description, its more than fine. I used it for almost the full year before I decided it was worth paying for to have a little more access to some of the new features and not being limited to how many responses im able to generate.

      @@TheMountainMaker Thanks for the reply. Writing the description is the toughest part of selling on Etsy, at least for me.

    • @TheMountainMaker
      @TheMountainMaker  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For me it was always coming up with a keyword filled title. I used to just put what the item was, and maybe the color options or size variations, but the title really should be filled with what your buyers would be searching for. That seems to have worked well for me this year anyways.
