      Very nice Ben. I'm tempted to get one now, but I wonder if the 16j model could produce a higher velocity when modded??? What do you think? Is it like the HDR50 where the 7.5j has a larger chamber? I might message Florian in the FB group to find out if he's tested both models. Merry Christmas!

    I have been watching this gun for a while now....and finally comitted to buy it. It sells out as soon as it hits the shelves, so I got lucky. I did all the mods as soon as it arrived and it was quite straightforward as long as you pay attention and take your time. I used a magnetic bowl to collect all the screws and bits, but still managed to lose one of the tiny machine screws. I found a fitting one in my screw tin so I was back in business.
    Well, after the mods I loaded it up and gave it a test fire with regular rubber balls on a cinder block from about 12 yards....and wow!!!...it blew a hole into it. I kept shooting at various targets and was having fun when after about 25 shots I started to notice a drop in performance. So, reload and repeat to the same results. Yes, I was shooting indoors at room temperature.
    I recommend this mod for people looking for sheer power but not for fun shooting for it eats through the CO2 like crazy...just be well stocked in cartrdges. Someone suggested to put the little brass "tophat" back in for it apparently regulates the CO2 much better but to a slight loss in velocity.
    I really wish this gun was available as PCP so that you could just pump the tank and keep shooting. I have other PCP guns and I can consistantly get more than 100 shots from a single tank filling. I also feel that the gun is much to long and heavy...a more compact version that weighs around 2 Kilos would be great. Don't get me wrong for it is a blast to shoot and it obliterates targets....just be prepared to spend money on CO2. By the way, dremeling the notches out of the chamber does absolutely nothing....I would rather keep them in order to reverse build and sell legally on the market.

    • @dirklatham1045
      @dirklatham1045 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At this point I need to make a downward correction to the amount of shots fired with the mods....realistacally it is maximum 14-15 rounds per CO2 change....I am not happy at all. I will try the brass tophat replacement tomorrow and see how that goes. If not, then I will have a friend in the pressure tank industry make a tank with regulator to which I have a coupeling to match that. Then laser print a fitting stock for it...

    • @dirklatham1045
      @dirklatham1045 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Torben Engelhardt No not yet, I am waiting for more CO2 to arrive. You can do the mods, but leave to brass piece in for now...seems people get more consistant performance that way. I will post more when the CO2 arrives.

      @@owenporter1472 I actually never changed it back again....I ordered 250 CO-2 capsules and have been blasting away. I am trying different ammo though. I recently tried the ceramic d...h balls( I cannont spell the word because they are sensitive to it). Pfffffff! and damn! These things went completely through my home-made target box which consisted of several layerys of thick cardboard and two layers of thick hard foam. AND they shattered on the tile wall behind it to send about 100 pieces of shrapnel back at me! I will never shoot these indoors again! I am thinking about steel balls next. Anyhoo, I developed a leak in the system so I have to take it apart again to replace o-rings. Luckily these are easily available fairly cheap in local hardware stores....welcome to high pressure airgunning!

    • @dirklatham1045
      @dirklatham1045 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    After disassembling the HDX and being ready to swap out the original unit with the powerkit68, I found that Umarex had literally glued the original in throughout the threading! Even after thoroughly heating it, it wouldn't budge. Ultimately, I had to resort to drilling the original and using a screw extractor to remove it. • @FoundingYouTuber
    @FoundingYouTuber 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I read somewhere that the only difference between the 40 joule and 16 joule versions (those are the two power levels that will be sold here in the U.S.) is that the 40 joule version has the mechanicals for the 88 gram Co2 cartridge. Otherwise, the mechanicals are the same. If that proves accurate, I'm going to be real curious to see what happens on installing the power kit on the 40 joule shotgun.
    Hmm. . . safe to assume the relevant parts are engineered to handle what, 60+ joules?

    • @Maddogairguns
      @Maddogairguns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Florian at Homedefence-24 has had a play about with the 40joule version. He said there were some gains to be had, but as most people seem to be happy with 40joules, they don't seem to be modding them.

    HI guys, Just A quick one, just about to convert my HDX .68 with the PowerKIt up to 40 Joules, I live in the UK, where do I stand on Legal grounds as the info I have researched says that the legal limit here is 16?

    • @Maddogairguns
      @Maddogairguns  ปีที่แล้ว

      The HDX68, in the UK is classed as an air rifle, due to the length of the barrel. So that is the reason the 16joule version is available. Legal limit in the UK for air rifles is 12ft lb, so any mods you do to a 16joule version will put you outside the law.
