The Good Stuff - Checking in on LM7 - Little Miami Conservancy: Baker, Bette, LM5, LM6, LM7 (4/18)

- Checking in on our favorite little champ today, and sharing some of my favorite, uplifting moments.
0:08 - As the two older siblings seem to be nearing their fill, crafty little LM7 knows it's his/her time to shine. This was a good feeding, and not the first one of the day, either! I included a lengthy clip to show that LM5 & LM6 don't even seem to be posing any real threat or resistence to LM7, so that's also a very good thing.
13:34 - A few things to point out here. For one - look at that crop on LM7!! Secondly, you can really see the significance of the size difference between the eaglets in this clip. You know what else I notice though? LM7 doesn't really seem intimidated. This is not a shrinking violet. Watch closely and you'll see - LM7 even stands up to a little challenge here & there. I do hate ANY bonking that occurs at this stage though, simply because there is such a size difference, but I also haven't personally been seeing much of that here. I could be mistaken, but I think that's calming down, which would be another good thing.
15:16 - One advantage LM7 does have be being the youngest/littlest... s/he can still seek perfect shelter under mom and dad when needed, while LM6 & LM5 have just about outgrown that option. This clip is just adorable.
18:12 - Just a little clip to close things out with a pretty view, an adorably feisty little eaglet, and hopes for continued good days.

The older siblings look like they've had a growth spurt. Good to see LM7.making sure he is not missing out. Watching earlier, I noticed LM7 snuggled between the siblings. So adorable ❤

Lil peanut is thriving right now & feisty as ever❤❤❤And still the biggest talker, whether full crop or not! LOL! I invite all to come & check out our wonderful eagle family & chat!
I'll admit, I'm always battling my pessimistic side. My worry can get the best of me, but I will also say that my gut tends to be accurate. I just feel so full of hope and optimism with LM7. (This is why I interrogate you so often, Jeni - I keep thinking I'm missing something.) Don't get me wrong - I can clearly see the size difference, and I know little one isn't in the best position in life. It's not easy being third in a nest under the very best of circumstances. BUT - every year, we do have success stories we may not have suspected at points along the way. I feel good about LM7, if for no other reason than the fact that this little one simply has smarts & strong will. S/he knows how to do what is necessary. They have it figured out, and they are not afraid. Keep the faith everyone - our sweet little peanut has got what it takes to handle this!

It's not necessarily common for the siblings to kill or eat the youngest. That's mostly seen when there is little food or other contributing factors that make that action seem necessary. Fortunately, that hasn't been the case at this nest.
