My first 22 rifle was a Remington model 514. Walked into the store at 9yrs old with 7 1/2 books of S&H greenstamps and walked out the door with it. Still got it and it still shoots great after 60 some years.
@Rhino-mt1rf why would anybody weld a scope to any Rifle? Company's like Brownells sell virtually every scope mount for most rifles, even if the mount isn't factory for your Weapon, they have plenty of aftermarket mounts that will fit damn near anything. So I don't understand why anyone would want to weld it to the gun. Now another thing if the Rifle was high caliber elephant gun or similarly large hunting caliber, maybe, possibly welding it just to be sure it won't break itself loose while firing. But that was a 22lr or something like that wasn't it?
Looks like another fun day Chief. Good grouping with the 22 but like you the scope being welded on is a bummer to me. Hope all is well Patrick. Hope to see your face next week brother. Many blessings to all.
Thanks Kevin!! I wish it didn't have the scope welded on it, but a dremel will knock it right off! It shoots darn good with it, so I just might leave it on there! Next vid in 2 weeks! Many blessings brother! 😎👌
I have a 541T Remington. Tack driver. I shoot at pennies drove into a stump @ 100 yds It has a 24 power scope on top. But what I really like about it is shooting 22 C/B'S . FUN PLINKING ROUND. Sucks the ejector doesn't work. Thanks for sharing.
I've been hittin flea markets for almost 45 years now. When I was barely out of diapers my maw maw had a stand and I would go down and spend Saturdays and Sundays with her. I'd be runnin around that flea market all day. She kept that stand for 20 years, every weekend.
I have a Remington 513T(arget) government stamped with competition sights on it. My dad bought it off a rack at Fort Knox in 1966 for $25. It's worth $700 now.
Easy way to check the bore: Carry a small piece of white plastic. Open the breech, put the plastic in, let it catch the sun, and look down the muzzle. Even a piece of white paper will work.
I have a 511 Remington. There's a scope ring that has the same radius as the 511 receiver. I Loctited the rings on and they work great. A little heat and theyll come off.
Nice one bro! Them ejectors are tricky if they’ve been sitting, that single shot 12 ga I got just needed cleaned and a little oil and she’s mint now! 🔥 Looking forward to the next one!
Way before you were department stores had sporting goods departments and sold guns. I think it was Shillito's Dept store stopped selling guns about 1970. My dad bought me that same rifle for $17. I shot a lot of small game with it. It will shoot Minicaps-silent but deadly
Always good to smoke one and watch chief smokem buy some random stuff! Can't believe that model 94-22 is worth that much, but gunbroker says that's a fair price...
Some of those old single shot .22s shot a lot of shorts back in the day because they were cheaper. That leaves a burn ring in the chamber where the case mouth was and makes the long rifle cases hang up. It is a job to get that burn ring polished out, too.
On that Remington 514, that not extracting the spent empty. That seems to be a recurring problelm with them. Take the bolt apart and check the extractor and clean out the gunk that builds up arounfd it. I had to replace the extractor and it's spring and it works better.
Yeah, model 94 22s aren't cheap. Idk why people expect them to be cheap. If you want cheap, buy a high point. Collectbile quality guns are gonna be prciey.@freddinkins6147
Before i would assume the ejector is bad i would check to see if the previous owner shot mostly shorts. When that is the case, powder residue builds up in the chamber and long rifle cases being longer they wild bind up and the ejector wont be able to pull them out. A good cleaning will fix it
As someone said below and I was thinking the same thing $50 dollars for the 22. the scope is welded on 🙄. and its a left handed bolt. when buddy said $1200 for the Winchester lever I know they are up there in price but the stock was scratched . looks like your missing the extractor. broken off ? it goes bang though . good hunting with the 22. PS you could get someone who if good with a cutting torch to cut the scope knobs off then find some Iron sights for that baby .
50 bucks is cheap for a remington, welded scope, or not. It's a right-handed bolt also, I just have my cam flipped around. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to weld a scope to it, but it shoots great, so I might leave it on there! A dremel will knock it right off if I want it gone! 💥. Some of these fellas bring their guns just to show em off with the goofy prices they put on em!
Amazing the prices over that side of the pond. I had several single 22 s I paid ten dollers equivalent in sterling each. That one that had been butcherd wouldent be worth anything. Single shot 12s again worth nothing, the cost of putting on your licence would far outweigh the value of the gun. Even the ammo, seems very available , but expensive. Amazing to us that you can just pick up guns and ammo and just walk off with them.
Because the gun laws are so restrictive in UK now, where I live we are down to a dozen shooters on a week end , where we had fifty before. So as shooters give up the market is awash with second hand guns. I gave a load of mine up to the local police for destruction. The slightest blemish on your record and the guns are gone. Safe place to live, but at a price.
I'm so thankful i don't live in the UK. The fact that you have to have a license to own a single shot 12 gauge is so fucking stupid. It's a damn shame what has happened to your country.
Good deal on that gun. Those tack welds look horrible though lol. Probably the coating on the metals or no cover gas caused all the oxidation. You could take a dremel or small grinder and take those down enough and it should knock right off.
Watching this from the uk and feeling so envious that markets selling all those things that are banned in the uk are alive and kicking in America. Fancy buying a bear trap in an open air market , amazing.
As to ejector it could be lack of oil If in field your best and closest source of oil in the oils onyour nose. Do not laugh it is ultra fine, used to coat scope lenses to stop fogging.
Failure to eject a spent .22 rimfire cartridge is often due to the rifle being dry fired a lot. Closely examine the chamber were the firing pin hits the rim. Also, inspect the spent case after you dig it out to see if there is a fine scratch running the length of the case. Repair is not simple, takes a qualified gunsmith to do a decent repair.

Great story! I’m glad you kept it!
Now that’s cool!
I got one as a Christmas present when I was 8 or 9. Out of all the firearms I have, it’s my favorite
His prices did look khigh to me too. I don't think I would give more than 50 bucks for the .22 But, the fun is in the search, I guess.
@@stearnsbingham552 I went to a garage sale and picked up a Springfield 03 for a hundred dollars. It looked like it had barely been used

Well it’s “antique” and sadly he knows somebody will pay it

I've seen a lot of "Bubba's Gunsmithing" over the years, but I've never seen a Scope welded to a Rifle. That's a new one.
I was here to say the same thing. For the love of the Lord Almighty, drilling and tapping couldn't have gone worse.
Immediately to the shop it goes to get that removed and possibly put something else on there...?
Several times I got an asswhooping tryna weld a scope to my red rider 1 whopping for touching shit 2 for being stupid
Scope was too far forward

His wife probably told him to sell his guns 😂
Your new little used rifle has a history of slam fires.... clean that gunked up firing pin. ✔️
My first gun was a daisy air rifle, my second was a single shot bsa 22,my 3rd was a single shot 12 gage . Many more after that. Cheers from Australia
You really took it one shot at a time huh
An Aussie with a gun? Welcome Welcome friend. From an American who also started with a daisy.

Well, you don't have a lot of space to shoot. Cool how he took it home, put a target and commenced fire.
Some nice items at the show. Good score on the 22 rifle. The Gulf gas pump globe would have been of interest to me at one of the dealers you stop at.
