    sonor makes my favorite drums, period...dw, pearl, tama, ayotte, noble and cooley...the list of drum manufacturers that impress me less than sonor goes on forever...even their $400 kits sound amazing...how is that even possible?

    Ever had that feeling of switching over to a drum company but felt like you're cheating on the current one because of serious consideration ? Well, that's what i'm thinking with Sonor drums... I won't mention the other company, but they made a certain finish very famous because of a certain famous drummer back in 1964.. ;)

    In my opinion Sonor's Select Force along with the Prolite are the best sounding, most musical drums I've heard. They have superb resonance, sustain and the strongest tone. I got a 12 rack Select Force tom added to my 1998 Premier Cabria, I use it as the 1st and highest tuned tom of the 4 in my set, tuned in Bb of the higher octave with an evans clear G2 on the batter side and man it sounds so awesome combined with the Premier toms wich are dark sounding due to its hybrid shell of blue gum eucalyptus and dark red meranti (phillipine mahogany). Also the 45 degree bearing edges are flawless and the T.A.R mounting system looks beautiful and really does enhance the resonance and sustain of the drums. Sonor drums kick ass!! 👊

    The creme white finish ia matt and looks the same than the beech set but it's a completely new developed colour... I tested it with playing cascara on the shell and you did not see anything- no scratches. I really love that finish and the touch of it.

    You're right. You could definitely buy all of that for the price of one SQ2 kit and even I think it's silly that they charge so much. Same goes for Yamaha's PHX, DW's Collector's Series, Pearl's Masterworks... But for that price you're getting one hell of a drum set from a manufacturer that's been in the business for 138 years. Besides, if your paying that much then I believe you know what you're getting into. I hardly believe it's out of touch. Out of its mind maybe...but it's worked so far ;)

    After playing and endorsing a certain drum company for over 20 years who sadly really don’t even focus on their kits anymore I decided it was time for a good look around and a change. I hope to have my first Sonor kit arriving here at the studio next week. I didn’t go for the Pro Lite or SQ2 but the Essential Force as I really liked the short stack toms and as of yet not being an endorsee the price was awesome. I will be recording the full drum tracks for the first A.G.D record out of C.A as well as shooting video for Samplitude Pro X 3 Magix official which I do endorse and will be on their site soon. Great times ahead and great video for Pro Lite

    Best drums in the world, no doubt. I'm proud to own an S-Class Pro kit, but these Prolites are making my mouth water. The snare throwoff is so perfectly designed, why has nobody done this yet?!!
    Gavin's playing is superb, and his technical knowledge of drum hardware and sound is unsurpassed.

I just wish it was easier to get in touch with Sonor regarding customer support, my 14 snare was out of round right out of the box, I was able to get a rim and head on it but it would be nice to have it right... sales guy heavily encouraged me to deal with it because Sonor is so hard to deal with in the USA... that's a shame.

    Just stirring the pot...sonor drums sound great, as to whom made the first drum "set" sonors earliest drum set is a 1942 while gretsch had the low boys pre dating the 1920s. Sonor is an older company (1875) gretsch (1883). I like alot of different stuff Yamaha makes a solid kit too. I think I'm just jonesing for a 50's 3 ply round badge...shwing!

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX

    One thing you will learn as music becomes a bigger part of your life is that price doesn't matter. Sometimes, we have to go the extra mile to get what we want. I'm one of those lucky few whose dream drum set doesn't cost much, but if my ideal setup was $10,000, I'd find some way to make that money. This is a kit designed for professional drummers, not hobbyists.

  • @finaldrumer
    @finaldrumer 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not gonna complain saying their prices are high or something like that, although they're, and of course I can get pro sets for less money but I don't like them, simple as that. If I like the sound of a certain instrument and I really want it, I'll save as much money as I need to get it. Period.

  • @HarnessDavid
    @HarnessDavid 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Agreed. No one is really much better. It's all the sound you want and what company provides that sound. That's why I dislike the sound of Pearl and Meinl but others find those to be their perfect sound. It's personal preference, it's all drums so respect it right?

  • @AquaAnim

    Alot of people "steal" other ideas others are doing, whether you like it or not. Zildjian is looking into making 85% copper, 15% tin alloy bronze for new cymbals which paiste has been doing for over 20 years on their Signature Series.

    Most of DWs' I've heard sound muddy and strangely hollow. Or the guys playing them just want to tune their drums that way. There have been times when I have had doubts for the Sonor, too. But I just love the sharp, solid and transparent punch of my Sonors :)

I just can't justify paying Gretsch Renown level prices for a beginner level Force kit, Starclassic Bubinga level prices for an intermediate Ascent series kit, and used DW prices for a professional level Prolite set. And you can forget SQ2.I could get a independent company to build me something you guys couldn't. I'm sorry

    All about this video is inspiring..the drums, the drumming, the video edition, the place where they play....i'm from Argentina (so i'm not biased with following opinion) i have great and special respect for German and Japanese industries. Whatever it says...made in Germany or in Japan, i have the feel that those things couldn't be better...nor the design, nor the construction, nor the materials they use.
