    I did the USA Railpass 1 1/2 years ago, and took the train from NY to California and back in a big loop. I did it all in coach, but I did stopovers in cities along the way to make it that I wouldn't have more than one overnight in a row on the train. It was still exhausting, but a lot of fun. Doing a 24 hour (or more) layover in Chicago is especially recommended.

      Yes, amen to only spending a single night in coach! Exhausting, as you say - I can see how tired I was when I'm editing these videos. Hoping to see more of Chicago next time

    Starting November 11 Amtrak is combining the Silver Star with the Capitol Limited (using just the Silver Star equipment) to make The Floridian Miami-Chicago

    hey question did u have to have assigned seatiing or sit where u want ty in advanced looks like a fun time on the trian ty

      Hey Danielle! So my experience so far is this - when they don't have many passengers, they usually tell you that you can sit where you like. But... when it's busy, they assign seats. They have to do it this way to make sure that couples and families get seats next to each other
