- In this video we'll test all helicopters or choppers in GTA V online till date to find out which is the fastest in terms of top speed as well as acceleration. We'll also show you a trick to make helicopter fly helicopter faster than normal.

Fun fact: if you pull the helicopter out of your hangar instead of spawning it in, it is much faster.

Me as well, but not interested in vehicles we can't use/buy etc.
So Sparrow is the most useful vehicle now. It's the fastest chopper, can be spawned next to you immediately, it has homing missiles, carries 2 people, cool down time is only 2 minutes, and most importantly it's not gay af like oppressor mk2

The sparrow isn't meant to be bumped around, it's like driving a featherweight car that can be stripped of almost all it's body panels with one scuff. You need to finesse the Sparrow. The best way to learn this is just learn how to fly low to the ground without touching of hitting anything, then practice soft but quick landings on a heli.
The Sparrow is actually super worth. Awesome to know.
Holy shit the actual sparrow was useful, but I didn't know is THAT useful. Quick helicopter for transport and heist preps.
I own the Akula so it being 2nd in acceleration I can deal with due to it being able to carry 4 and with steath capability

I like sparrow because how useful it is, when doing Cayo Perico preps.

@@yung_czery the stealth comes in handy been with gta online since its original lunch an I've made a few enemies that will literally target me if we end up in the same lobby with mk2 annoying as hell but with the Alukla I could be behind them and they wouldn't even know until they had been blown up
GTA logic: Doing wheelies on a bike increases speed. Driving your car over curbs increases speed. Flopping your helicopter left and right increases speed.
So basically do everything that will decrease speed in real life.
Wobbling helicopters irl does raise the speed but it also makes the altitude drop so it isn’t viable for long flights and can be extremely dangerous when lost control over.
Actually wheelies would increase speed, more air resistance but less friction on the ground
Flopping your helicopter in gta 5 doesn't make it faster in the first video of the fastest helicopter he shows that you don't flop your helicopter and flopping make the helicopter slower because the akula top speed with flopping is 285 kmh but without it goed 300 kmh that's the same with any other helicopter

Just return it instantly with the MC club menu
You can make the Sparrow accelerate even faster. I call it a "tail whip".
1) start with the helicopter pointed 180 degrees from the intended direction of travel
2) lift off as normal
3) apply rear 'tilt" to get you moving in the right direction
4) use the yaw control (rudder) to "whip" th tail around so that the chopper is traveling forward the way you want to go
5) enjoy nearly top speed instantly
works well at ground level, but works incredibly well for leaving off of buildings.
I use to feel that moving the heli to the side makes me faster.

For those that didn't know if you take your helicopter out of the hanger it gets a speed bonus, while rocking the akula or hunter side to side you can reach upto 200mph

Very interesting test, although, I think the distance to target in the acceleration test was too far so there was too much top speed influencing the result. Maybe, you should have shorten the distance by 50% to really see the acceleration part more. Great video!
well... it was not only the acceleration test but also to show the normal top speed result... but you can pause the video at any point and notice the speed difference to get an idea

The problem is that underpowered helicopters like the Buzzard can not keep a leveled flight, if u try to go continuously forward, so on a long distance flight a Frogger beats it, specially with passengers. And that's why i (still) don't have a Buzzard, so my 1st armed heli pick was the Savage; than a few more followed.

Nah the terrible armor keeps it very balanced as just a tiny scratch means it could start smoking
@@Lego_darth_maul Also since it has only homing missiles, most other choppers would easily take it out in a dog fight. Especially the Savage, Buzzard, and Annihilator.
Although the sparrow is one of the best, it has the durability of a paper airplane.

i always do nose up to reduce speed at a cost of slightly increased altitude.
Yeah yeah sparrow is a must get and all, definitely use it for heist preps
But in terms of the other helicopters the akula is also insane. It can take a few hits, is fast, and has missiles. It also has stealth mode. Aside from sparrow, i gave to say that the akula is my favourite chopper. It also looks sick
i use Akula too and i think its faster then sparrow cuz did he use upgrades on helicopters where it works cuz i always was faster then sparrow with it

Rpgs travel at about 140-150 mph I don't know how to convert the in-game files speed to mph but i have set homing missiles to the same 400 that the rpg and i was able to almost purely outrun them in a straight line (while at 130mph)
the Hunter when taken out of the hangar can pretty much outrun mk2 homing missles by flying in a straight line with some small left and right adjustments using the tail prop

1:35 the idea behind this theory (reduce vert. Speed for increase in horizontal speed) is known as the balanced state. The method to reduce v speed is known as scissoring.

Some helicopters lose altitude just flying straight. That gain of altitude in a straight line compensates loss of altitude in turns. The buzzard can barely fly in a stable altitude, and loses it on any turn. The sparrow loses altitude as it moves at full tilt, you have to slow down to gain altitude.
The cargobob loses altitude when loaded with a car moving at full pelt.
The hunter gains speed if you don't press the torque button (climb) at the cost of altitude. It gains horizontal speed in a dive, while others don't.
Helicopter are more complex than this trick to gain speed. You are just taking advantage of their altitude performance and converting in horizontal speed, which is valid.
helicopters like hunter and Akula which tends to climb up can really benifit from this trick also...I noticed that almost all helicopters go faster while using this trick... they're complex I agree but for me trick works.... also there are other variables like wind, etc which affect speed

Wouldn't a more accurate test for acceleration be determined by time it takes to reach a certain baseline speed achievable by all helicopters instead of a distance trial? The ones tested with a higher top speed could cover a distance trial faster thus giving erroneous results?
Or was your line of thinking as treating the distance trial as a kind of dragstrip like with vehicles? Even so, the ones that win a drag are the ones that both accelerate faster and have a higher top speed.

the thing is there's lot more things that can affect speed of helicopters like wing, approach angle, etc but you can pause the video and compare the speed which is shown in bottom left corner

I was thinking a "0-60mph" like approach like cars, but you're totally right. That only applies if the factors are limited. Cause helicopters operate in a 3D environment that's not able to be controlled. Even aircraft speed records and acceleration tests are done under get specific weather conditions. just for clarification on all the speed videos, are all the vehicles upgraded all the way or are they stock?
well... not all vehicles can be upgraded like Pegasus vehicles, new sparrow, etc... but upgrades are applied to those vehicles which can be upgraded like Akula, hunter, etc.... and this is true for all my top speed and acceleration test videos

Without that wiggle method the volatus is the fastest helicopter in a straight line
So basically get the Akula. It takes 3 rockets, can go stealth, and transport 4 players. Sparrow is nice but only beat the Akula by 1 second. If it was across the map then the speed difference would only be 10-20 seconds probably
and of course in combat the akula would blow up the sparrow a thousand times
