My 84mm Golfer is the only 84 that I carry. And only because of the scissors. The scissors are, more or less, mandatory for me. I bought mine from EBay a couple years ago and I have only sharpened/honed the blade. The knife came to me in very good used condition and I do enjoy carrying it.
Thanks for making this video.👍🏻 This model made so much sense. No 84mm SAK got the scissors anymore & the compact ain't that compact tbh. Only thing I would modify in 84mm golfer is the combo tool- swap it for the newer combo tool having the flat head screwdriver. The corkscrew can be given the bit for a PROPER philips screwdriver and Voila! The perfect swiss army knife!
Thanks for the tip! I never even considered that. I have a couple of 84's I bought as donors with scissors in iffy condition, and the thought of bringing them back to new myself was a bit daunting. I think I'll give it a shot sending them in. New subscriber here, put on to your channel by Mark, and it's already paying off. Keep up the good work!
I sent a Victorinox huntsman, with a bail, in for repair many years ago. They sent me a new huntsman, and the original back, no charge, as I remember. I think it had a broken tip on the knife blade, which I think they sharpened out, as I remember. 🤔😊
Yeah they don’t like fixing the old bail knives. I just got a disappointing answer from them this week. I will be making a video about it as soon as the knife comes back.
I must have use the victorinox repair service more then 20 years ago for that huntsman! I do like a knife with a bail. I perfer the fieldmaster. I am not a wine drinker.
