    I used to spend hours learning and playing fingerstyle pop songs. I was not fully satisfied, I wanted to play what I felt. Thanks to people like you Marco, I've learned a lot about music theory. Although I still take time to play my favorite pop songs, I always take time to work on new chord shapes, scales and melodic tonal notes and music theory in general. Thank you for your excellent, illuminating, lessons. May you and your loved ones stay healthy and happy.

      Hello Michael, nice to know that your guitar playing is going well. Could you please tell me what in particular, I need to know of 'theory' to be able to arrange fingerstyle covers. Thanks

      @@tarunmalviya9330 Learn to transpose chords and notes to an appropriate key that makes for easier fingering. I find C major, D major, Am work well. Learn the melody, key scale and chords. Add bass notes, chords, or passing notes, at appropriate times. Some arrangements are more difficult than others but are worth it. Arranging to me is like a puzzle to be figured out. Start with something easy, like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Once you learn that, move on to more complex songs that you really know and love. Hope this helps. PS. Some songs will just roll off your fingers just playing by ear, some will have you pulling your hair out, but stretching your intellect. Hope this helps.

    Great advice! As a beginner the scale exercise up & down the fret board is a terrific break from my scale practice finding the "E" on the 6th & 5th string & playing the E maj scale from those positions...never occured to me to start on any note of the E scale & to play from there through the scale. Is that still considered the "E" major scale? Or Modes of the "E" major scale? Is there a difference? Thanks for your lessons & time 👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏾

    Can anyone explain me how E major scale can start with different notes, as sir Marco is saying. I only know that E major scale starts with E note. Looking forward for help, thanks!

    • @5vocales245
      @5vocales245 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He's talking about playing not just from the root, but from the other notes.
      For instance, taking E major scale which is: E F# G# A B C# D# E
      You can pick whichever note you want to play that is on the E major key and of course you are gonna be playing E major, BUT in a more advance explanation you're gonna be entering in the path of MODES. There are seven modes for major scales such as: ionian, dorian, phrygian, lidian, myxolidian, aeolian, locrian that correpond to every note in order in every major scale.
      E (ionian)
      F# (dorian)
      G# (phrygian)
      A (lidian)
      B (myxolidian)
      C# (aeolian)
      D# (locrian)
