aDAC# to get a open D note in the third part ? I haven't tried that, just have been using the more common aEAC#. Of course, standard tuning will work to some extent, but it sounds better as in the recording with the C# on the high string. I haven't found any of the earlier recordings using gDAE for this tune.
I honestly think he's playing in A but tuned standard gdae tuning. I and a couple other fiddle players I know can pull it off. You capo the g and d strings to make them d and e. Its not easy at all but I can do it and I think he was too. Jusy my opinion. Unless you carry 2 fiddles you need to learn it standard so you don't have to retune
great music!
What other of his popular songs did he do in alternate tunings, like this one? It may help me attempt to play them better, and easier. Thanks!
I hear alot of Kenny in Docs playing.
This sounds a bit like the Irish piece the Mason's Apron?
Did Baker play this in A tuning? Any one know?
Try ADAC# for the tuning. I knew Kenny and that was the tuning he used. Not standard at all.
It doesn't matter as long as you can get the tune out.

Cool. I met Kenny just once. Butch was a friend of mine. Both were brilliant!
I play it cross tuned and don't need two fiddles ?
yeah, it's A tuning.
it's AEAC#

素晴らしい、フラットマンドリン25年、フィドル2年ぐらいやってますが、彼のようには、弾けません。ブルーグラスミュージックは、奥がふかいです。
A lot of Japanese like Blue Grass. I recognize the Kanji, and thank you so much.
You are the real deal;
Wow
Why no banjo or mandolin break???
Because it featured the fiddle.
this almost sounds like old time
...it is old time....also pretty sure this is the version Fred Cockerham got his from.
LOL. I guess because you production talents weren't known when this was cut. How could they have made such a blunder?!
Needs a banjo break.
