I love Joe Cocker so much. I was able to meet him by chance in Crawford, Colorado, where he and his wife had a house. I was so happy to approach him shyly and just say, "Mr. Cocker, you have enhanced my life with your music. I love you so!" His response was so heartfelt. He said, "thank you! You made my day, darlin'." I'll never forget it.
For my wedding i had to walk down the isle on this song and wanted no one else to sing it but Joe Cocker so i had them play it from the internet. You will be greatly missed. Praying for your family. LEGEND!!!!!!!
Classic!! I was a teen when this came out.....it was as beautiful then as it is now. The simplicity of this song delivers the message in such a strong way. Joe Cocker could not have done this better. RIP Joe.....thank you for the good music and being a part of my youth. May 20, 1944 - December 22, 2014
Joe Cocker is so wonderful. I saw him in 2000 on the Tina Turner 24/7 Farewell Tour. He was her opening act. When he sang With A Little Help From My Friends, and You Are So Beautiful, the crowd lost their minds. Thanks for the post.
I was watching a tape from London in may 2013, he was struggling there, of course I did not know that he had lung cancer before I watched it, its a sad time for all of us Woodstock generation, he will live forever in his music, he is now immortal , god bless joe, your in the arms of god now xxx
there will never be another singer like this again to me he's like the white version louis armstrong. joe cocker was one of the best soul singers of all time. what ever song he did he always put his heart and soul into it.
Someone like me has endless hope when hearing the depth of emotion, the tenderness in his voice. There is a hope of finding love like that! The dream of it... the feeling of being cherished, held in a halo of warmth... feeling adored. My heart longs for exactly this.
"Joe can I leave my hat on?" Yes you may - Joe is looking down counting those with hats. Love you Joe and we miss you already. A very sad week after learning of your passing.
Its like surfing beneath the blue sky....its like walking within a forest over the yellow leaves.....its like taking a nap under the willow tree. This song has the essence of the first sun after the winter
I had to pause the video after ninety seconds to dry my eyes and collect myself after Joe dedicated it to his mother's passing. Deeply touching; proceed with caution if you are watching on a computer in a public place!
Joe , from the time I was introduced to English/ captivating , in a way folk Music...I saw in you everything that every classical musician ever tried to portray....namely to touch your soul..
Of course you are so right kaboemskii, if this guy was on Britain's got Talent he would be laughed off immediately - BUT - for some God unknown reason we all love him & that's just the way it is lol When my grandson was born we took him to bathe him, & this is the song that was playing from the hospital radio, my daughter & I cried - so emotional! It was perfect timing! I bought the album for my Grandson's keepsake box :) God Bless you Joe Cocker x
my daughter turns 30 today! It was a hard journey to have God place her in our arms. She is a joy; now she is still one of heavens gift 2 me. Love you pookie bear.
I was the interpreter for him and his crew during what must have been the Marseille leg of this tour. The Régional Cultural office I worked for was sponsoring. It was absolutely unforgettable. Joe was delightful and patient with all the politicos who wanted to meet him. He was paid for 90 min, sang WAY longer than that … and finished with this. A very very fond memory❤
Joe...sings with his whole body...which is the way he should. I think it's beautiful and it adds to the feeling of the song. How do you know he's drunk and high? If he can sing this well high and drunk...go ahead! If you aren't moved by the song and the delivery...then don't watch it. I love it and it's unfair to him...but each to his own! Pure talent...no faking it.
Brilliant, he has always helped me express the most simple words of love, complex feelings and hope to my littlel (teenaged) girl/young woman. We have an understanding now Thanks JOE! .
Phrasing, delivery, emotion. It's all there. His roughness belies the soft soul inside. He is so against type and it's all the more beautiful for it. His performance is an anthem to and for incomplete hearts. Rarefied work. A one of.
Had this played as our first dance at our wedding. My wife (and most of the guests) had never heard it and ended up with tears in their eyes. It's 'our song' obviously and still gets a the tear ducts working whenever we hear it. Thanks Mr Cocker for being so brilliant!
He looks really strange... but the way he sing this song is awsome. I can't describe what it releases to me. It feels like it's coming straight from his heart.
Around 1974, I pulled into a parking lot, late at night. I was a computer tech for Honeywell in Columbus, Ohio. I was on a call. I had the radio on. I had bought Joe's Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Loved it. Then, 'suddenly', I heard this song. Wow.
It Hurts To Loose Such and Icon.. Joe Cocker... Your voice touched my life and my heart......... God Bless your Memory and thank you for the ones you help so many of us create.........
this song is so good, all it needs is the musical score, the lyrics and Cocker's voice...he can be old, drunk, sitting at a table with his 9th wine, and it will always come off...
Joe...love you...all the wrinkles in the shirt, the sleeve not right before you go on...and the untied shoe...and the compliment to Montreux...Gotta love you. You are the one and only...tell it like it is...then tear that damn song right out of your soul, sweetheart. There's more where that one came from...love you!

This was a song that my Dad used to play all the time.
He passed away when I was 24 I don't relate the song to him and me.
But I always listen to the song and it reminds me of him.
When I was 32 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and my partner was 7 months pregnant.
I made it through and my daughter was born ❤️
I am now 52 and my daughter has just turned 20.
This song has been with me all of my life.
I don't know why my dad liked it so much.
But I know that he made me like the song, and i could not have written a better song for my daughter ❤️
Best version of this monumental song ❤
