Being a carpenter and builder when I was looking for a cordless platform, I consider the circular saw the most important piece and I chose dewalt as I studied many and considered the Dewalt saw range superior for my needs .

I usually always use a 4 or 5Ah battery with my circular saws. I have the Dewalt and is really easy to use. With the weight of the Milwaukee, just as well use a 7-1/4 saw.

    Hi Brad,
I have both brand (Milwaukee & DeWalt) brushless 6 1/2" circular saw. I have to tell you they are both great and you can't go wrong with either one. Yes you're correct, the dewalt front line markers is not as good as the milwaukee. Now, both have the LED Light, brushless motor and rafter hook. The rafter hook on the milwaukee is thicker but even though the dewalt is thinner it still strong and works great. The dewalt size seems a little smaller then the milwaukee and i think it's the bottom plate. Plus, the dewalt has a port to hook to a vacuum if anyone needs it when working indoors. Milwaukee has it but only for the UK models.
Well, this one is going to be hard to pick. I have to say i like them both and it might come down to battery platform. Both great circular saws.

Oh, i forgot. I use the 8.0 ah batteries on both of them and it works great.
Yes, 5.0 ah and higher works way better. If you just need to cut a few boards the smaller battery will work.
Oh boy, my milwaukee m12 line is growing. Those tools are impressive. Be careful it will get you, LOL....

Well the winner for me when it comes to 6 1/2 circs is the lightest one of decent quality and compatibility for your desired or current battery platform. The 6 1/2 is the light duty saw used for those occassions when you want a light saw so I agree that weight is a big factor in choice as long as the saw is quality. Ive still got my old 18v Dewalt 6 1/2 and its still going strong and has been a great saw that I now use with the Dewalt adapter and run 20v batteries on it. Ive got a 7/14 brushless Dewalt as well and when my 18v 6 1/2 gives out ill be upgrading to the new Dewalt brushless 6 1/2. And no doubt Ill feel pretty spoiled with a light and rafter hook on my saw.

Like my Milwaukee 2730-20 m18 fuel 6-1/2 Circ saw. Gets the job done for what I use it for, and I like the left blade and light weight of the tool. Do wish “dust chute” was tad bit better; but, most saws that are not 7-1/4 of “dust chutes” like this; so....it’s a thing, but not deal breaker. The other 2 things that’s an annoyance but not deal breaker: no positive angle stops, and onboard Allen wrench storage. The onboard Allen wrench stays in my circ saws own personal “packout” box; as it falls off at worst times and tired of worrying if lost it (being 30 feet up framing and having the wrench fall out of the saw, it happens). The angle stops, crappy they aren’t there, but again, won’t stop using b/c don’t have......woulda been nice to have, but hey, they aren’t there; and seems like a trend w/ other Milwaukee circ saws😉
But go w/ what you like and what battery platform your in. Get the BEST tool for the JOB for the money you are willing to spend. Cuz can get great tools (corded and cordless) regardless of brand for great money, and they get the job done.

I used to own the dewalt 6 1/2 circular saw when it was the only option out there. It's the Biggest piece of crap I've ever used so I got rid of it as soon as dewalt released the flexvolt line. Now I own the new dewalt 6 1/2 brushless circular saw and it's awesome. Dewalt stepped up the quality in their tools probably forced by other players like milwaukee and Makita making higher quality tools. Competition is good for all of us!

I have both brushless saws. I like the M18 better. Build quality is better, quieter. I only paid $113 for it too (Dewalt $90). Pricing under normal conditions makes Dewalt possibly a better buy. I am curious to see what you say.
