Most of these comments were a couple of years old. Knew Chris back in the years when he played and made GREAT music with his old mate Steve Baker. He may be gone but his music keeps on rolling around and will be with me till the day I go visit him. Wherever we find ourselves....Music for the soul of the highest order.
Few days ago I was walking down the center of Seoul with friends after dinner, enjoying the breeze of summer night. Suddenly this song was streamed around Seoul square and we stopped our steps for a moment to listen to it. And then we captured this unknown beautiful song with a music finding app. (yeah, we're just living in too good days of technology...) He has to know this is how this song brought me here. Why do talented gems leave us so fast... :'( RIP Chris Jones.
Funny enough - I used to live in Seoul, too - even used to run a Pub restaurant there. On my regular playlist there was his CD 'SOUL STORM COMING' (recorded with his German 'Sunnyland Blues Band'). Lots of fine guitar work with a great rendition of God Moves on the Water (traditional). As a guitar player I admired especially all the slide playing on that record. Chris Jones and a guy named Gerd Vogel made a fine Blues CD that however is hard to find these days...
...just discovered him. I am in love with his voice, music and especially lyrics.. so so sad that now he plays his beautiful songs in heaven.. thank you for posting this, I'll buy his albums for sure. Rest in peace, Chris. Hope to see you some day..
This is high end recording at it's peak. Every Stockfisch recording is. And of course, a fucking great musician that everybody should know and listen too. RIP.
When I entered the world of audio, I was naive and unorganized with my own thoughts. I eventually kept growing my musical spirit through different genres... but something came across my path. I discovered him with Long after you're gone. And when I first listened to this song here, It blew my mind. I cannot believe that such a talented man died to cancer while he could've had a career and spread his wisdom and magic. Rest in peace Chris, we miss you.
This is simply an artist that EVERYONE should collect, there will be no more music, but what he left us will be enjoyed for generations, timeless music. Not only is his music supreme, the recording labels are SECOND TO NONE. Stockfisch Music and Acoustic Music Records, perfect fidelity. For those of you that have not collected Chris Jones, here are the albums to start with. Roadhouses and Automobiles Moonstruck & No Looking Back Gotta Look Up Smoke And Noise Sara K & Chris Jones
Mr.Jones R.I.P.. You are honored by your music. I am very impressed about this song meets the daily impress of all "normal" people live through..... The sound is incredible! Thank you, team of "stockfisch", thank you for your extraordinary work on this masterpieces of what can be......
It's 2019! I just found him!! What a loss to the world of music!!! Real music!!!! Do not mention him w/the likes of others! I know good...no great music WHEN I hear it!!!🎵🎵👍👍
Undoubtedly, when death pursues us on to hereafter, where silence remains, the "MUSIC" speaks for us! I think after listening to him, Chris knew that! Thank You for the post.
Chris like Eva Cassidy went before his time. They both had the chops but never gained the fame in life they deserved. I love Chris's music...his label Stockfich is one of the best for quality recordings which really lets his music shine. I am sure Chris garnered a lot of respect for his music which is more personally satisfying than fame. Fame can be had by any lucky idiot...Respect is much harder to achieve and much longer lasting.
The crickets are especially audible around 32 - 37 seconds in and again around 2:03 - 2:07. I could hear them on my crappy 20-year old RadioShack speakers connected to my desktop, as well as on my big rig streaming via Airplay. Interestingly, however, the crickets were not audible when I streamed the same song via Tidal. So, this test seems to be dependent on the source file.

One of the main differences between Chris Jones and Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga (the examples mentioned in the vid) - is Chris's talent and quality music will stand the test of time and will be held in high regard years from now. The Biebers and Gagas of the world are disposable trash that will be soon forgotten. I agree, it's maddening that such trash gets so much attention these days - but their audiences are primarily shallow minds incapable of appreciating true talent such as Chris Jones. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Lady Gaga is an amazing writer and singer. It´s not fair at all to compare her to Bieber. honestly, besides her parafernalia, she is a true artist. You should give her a break, not that she needs it though, but honestly, comparing her to bieber show clearly you have not heard more than one song from her. And it´s unfair to judge so lightly. cheers
Never listened to one song from Bieber or Gaga and never will. But I must admit I never heard of Chris Jones until I was looking for audiophile music to test some replacement speakers I just bought. The song "Long after your gone" came up on one of my searches. Not the normal music I've been listening to, however the song made me look this guy up to check out his other works.
Hi Metallsau, danke für die Information über diesen unglaublichen Künstler. Ich werde absehen mir jetzt bald eine Vinyl von ihm zu holen, damit ich nnicht nur diese Komprimierte Musik von TH-cam hören muss. Hi Metallsau, thank you for this great information of this incredible musician. I am going to buy me a Vinyl of him, so I don't must listen to the compressed musik from TH-cam.
It's really sad to see people judging others for their behaviour without knowing them personally. Sad to see that people are not willing to look for artists that suit them but rather expect every mainstream radiostation to play exactly what they like. Really sad to see people judge other people's art as 'terrible' and wishing they be denied success just because their work doesn't please them, while knowing that it is only popular, because it pleases millions of other folks.
@@SIedgeHammer83 That's your take away? Because I said to not be condescending and act as if you were assigned to decide what's art and who's to be judged (also assuming that no musician of your taste ever had questionable morales), I must like a certain rapper? I meant quite the opposite: I don't only defend what's to my personal taste and I would wish people not only accepted what's to theirs.
@@SIedgeHammer83 I'm not at all defensive. Frankly I intended to be quite offensive. Again: People don't need to 'defend' their taste. Because you have no business attacking and judging it. It's not science. It's art and whether you apprechiate it or not makes no difference.
I appreciate your thoughts about Jones. I'm touched by the story in the video. However, it gives me these ideas: support some great living musicians, and, vote for universal healthcare, wherever you are.
i WOULD GO SO FAR TO SAY THAT CHRIS JONES's songwriting & guitar playing skills were on the same level to that of Michael Hedges,David Crosby ,John Hiatt,David Wilcox. . .I can't stoP listening..............R.I.P.

Greetings, from Brazil...
It is indeed a superb quality recording (and really great vocals by Chris Jones, as well as guitar picking skills).
I am in awe of this mans music. Im sad that he had to leave us so soon. :(
Thanks Chris. RIP.
This is GOLD, and with good studio headphones... X_X

Hats off for such a great artist!
Holy shit the vocal recording quality on this song is incredible, I've rarely heard anything like it.

great song , great album , amazing artist ! buy this album , its a very good recording , play it on a high end stereo system .... its an eargasm !
It's a long row of zeros
Shining in that dashboard light
Another millions miles in some rental car
Another highway in the night
Another day, another week, another month
Away from my family
But I'll be lying if I told you
There's somewhere I rather be
Living in roadhouses and automobiles
There's a poor boy hunting june bugs
And I know just how he feels
Living out of suitcases
Living out of fantasy
There won't be nothing left, when this road gets done
With me
Now it's a long road that brings me here
A lot of pain and folks left behind
And if the music hadn't pulled me through
I'd have probably lost my mind
I bet hope my woman she understands it
Our little daughter understands it too
They both love me for who I am
And separable from what I do
I'm a stranger to my children
I'm a stranger to myself, sometimes
But that don't mean it's just another sad song
If you read between the lines
Between the lines it's just...
A long road of zeros
Shining in that dashboard light
Another millions miles in some rental car
Another highway in the dark of night
Another day, another week, another month

You talking to the TH-camr who posted this or Chris jones cause Chris passed away in 2005.
