Woodturning - Can you turn BARK?

  • Woodturning wood bark into a rather interesting and weird project. Casting the bark in to epoxy resin then turned on my woodturning lathe into a milk cup. Used food safe epoxy resin as my coating layers.

    I soooo want to try this now. Seriously, the look on it with the bark peaking through...like a live edge without the maintenance or the roughness. SWEET!

    A tree surgeon friend Judy gave me some slabs of black walnut and the bark looks awesome this has given me inspiration great work buddy.

    yes David you can turn bark, but you must brush it first :D

    Can you use any 2 part resin as a finishing coat? Do you worry about pooling resin on the inside when you apply the finish coat? Do you leave it spinning on the lathe to cure or just spin it to apply the resin coat? I'm really enjoying your videos. Thank you.
