  • When I was offered this BMW X5 I wasn’t that interested, even though it is a 4.8i V8, but when I heard it start, well I just had to have it… this is the most antisocial car I have ever owned!
In this video I’ll show you why I bought this X5, run through the history of the X5 and I take this loud V8 on a drive, when I fund a tunnel for proper V8 acoustics!
I hope you enjoy the video - if you do please hit the Like button, subscribe to the Channel and let me know your thoughts on the X5, whether it is this one or your own experience.
    Thanks for watching!

My tax was £700 Insurrance was higher too but no stress just love the car

Sounds incredible - I was lucky to pick up a fully loaded one from Singapore (I'm in NZ) with only 45,000 km on it - I'm now looking at a new exhaust to make the most of the v8. I'm fortunate to be running a decatted TVR Cerbera 4.5v8 which is a total hooligan, and I'd like to bring the E70 a bit closer to that experience, but still something I can drive without waking the neighbours.

    • @jimmypaterson7650

I picked up one a few months ago. Also in NZ. Also looking to get more out of the exhaust without waking the neighbours up. Actually more concerned about it being too loud in the cabin and droning on long drives. Would be keen to know how you go, and where in NZ you get parts.

Hello, But of course, I enjoyed the video. I have driven BMWs for 45 years and various X5s for 15 years (a wonderful E53 Maritime and several E70 Ds) and currently still my old E70 as I find the subsequent models all ugly as hell and would rather go for a Range Rover today.
I am an engineer and in 1997/98 I redesigned and rebuilt the paint shop at BMW in Spartanburg/ USA for the E53 as it did not fit through the facilities.
But I was less stuck on the X5 than the word Cornish. I know the corner you live in a little, from two trips from Minehead via Bude, Boscastle, which was badly damaged after, Tintangle, Newquay, to Landsend, the wonderful St. Austell, the old Rame Church and the two seafaring nests of KIngsand and Cowsand, via Weymouth and the picturesque Lulworth Cove and on to Dover. I did the trip as a student for 3 or 4 weeks in the early 80s and again in 5-6 days a few years ago on my way back from a business trip to Liverpool. Cornwall and Devon are a different world, with different times ;-)
I also know the tunnel and the bridge over the Tamar. Beautiful area where you live, with the Celts.
A few years ago, I had a meeting at Mini in Oxford and also visited some of my wife's family from Barcelona who live there.
I had booked a Jaguar E-Pace with Avis at Heathrow. They didn't have it available and I got an upgrade to an F-Pace (I'm a premium member with Avis). As they didn't have a normal F-Pace available, I got a second upgrade to the F-Pace SVR, a monster machine with 550 HP.
In a few days I drove it on the southern roads around Oxford, and all the way to Brighton and Southampton ;-) Awesome!
The rental fee was cheap (for the E-Pace I booked) but the fuel was expensive.
I'm from the Nürburgring and we're used to all kinds of cars here, but these trips were still awesome. And the sound.
By the way, there are plenty of cars at the Nürburgring with the steering wheel on the wrong side every weekend.
      All the best
