It's definately a unique looking woofer. I've never seen a surround like that. Gotta go check the specs on that puppy.
I remember when I got my X Type 10, it was so big I had to put it in a box for 12", it was too deep for a 10" box.
Can't wait to hear that beast.
One of my eight ZR 12" SWR-304ED new never used look more "weird and beautiful" than that, by today's standards and expectations, yes.

I agree. That's what I run. The cone and dust cap are a bit boring, but that backside is magnificent! 😊
oooo yes. JBL GTi is one of my dream sub. i wonder how well are they as SQ sub in IB setup

@@n.shiina8798I ran 3 of the W12gti subs in a rear deck infinite baffle setup for 13 years. The sound quality is phenomenal. Fast and dynamic sound. They are also very efficient. Great for a smallish amp and stock electrical system.
Output rolls off on the bottom end, as you might expect, so you have to be careful with how much power you use when playing really low.
I've swapped from my sedan to an suv and have tried one in a ported enclosure for the first time. Still sounds great and you can really tell the extra bottom end being ported at 30Hz.
Peter of PS Sound also uses them in his home setup, the 15" version. His are similar to infinite baffle, not in a box. They are like a open baffle design. A bit unusual. You know he has good taste in subs, so I imagine his setup sounds great as well.

Too bad that it's too big for your front sub, and that's the only Status sub they make. It might be worth looking into a new center console design. ;)
Why do you care about power rating? It tells us nothing about nothing anyway. Feed it with whatever available, clean power you have and that's all.
I don't really "care" it's more of motor size does not correlate with usual.power ratings.
I have seen the sub personally, at audiotunerz Hyderabad India, and loved it. It's heavy and beautiful, and the punch you can't believe it.

Does Alpine provide the "Le" inductance spec for this subwoofer? Curious if it uses any "shorting rings" in the motor? And what is the Fs?
What is the Volume of your spare tire well enclosure?
If you ever get the chance, try a Scanspeak 13" 32W/4878T05 Gold Series subwoofer. ;) It's only 155mm deep, but unfortunately requires a larger enclosure than most 12" automotive subwoofers. But it's specs all around are better than the Dynaudio Esotar² 1200 subwoofer.
Unfortunately, Alpine doesn't provide any inductance values for the sub, But at this price point and performance level, I would imagine it will have a couple of shorting rings.
In my spare tyre well it's not an enclosure, it's an IB manifold.

are these the new type x? i still have one of the orginal type x 12 v2, amazing subwoofer that can play realy low, very loud and sounds very clean.
It kind of is and isn't. Alpine slashed the X series in favour of the Status. Amps are identical, the speakers though trickled down from the F1 status.
must have much higher efficiency having 400watt rms and 1000 peak when the old ones have 1000rms and 3000 peak, what size voice coil do they have? i know neo's dont dissipate heat very well, compared to ferrite

To me it looks similar to the Purify drivers. And those are the cleanest drivers distortion wise.

@@elviscaragea4433 low Fs has nothing to do with SQ. Sure, it is an indication, but not a definitive one. Subs with super low Fa are used for HT where low playback notes are needed for effects. There is very little music below 30Hz.
