  • Although I don't talk about fixed blades often, this new Benchmade Puukko looks like it might be a real winner. Great steel, excellent ergos, and what I think is a nice price point (available for presale at $123 in some places). The texture in hand is great, and even though there isn't jimping, the finish on the spine is not slick at all and actually grabs your thumb, so you can get good purchase if you need to choke up.
    More than anything, it's exciting to see Benchmade branch out with a new steel. The last time they did that was with 20CV a few years ago and it completely overhauled their catalog to a new level of quality.
    Thanks to Matt and Benchmade for the time, link to the Puukko here: www.benchmade....
    Thanks to Zach from Zach's Stuff for setting this up. Check out his channel! / @zachstuff

    No 90° spine for striking Ferro rod so no need for loop on the side hold the leather sheath upside down knife falls out other than that it's good looking knife for the kitchen knife drawer

      I think their Hunt Line fixed blades have all been pretty solid. Not too overpriced, nice, solid designs. Often get overlooked though.

      I think it'll be a big hit, and give a Benchmade option that's competitive with the rest of the market. I'd like to try that steel myself, haven't yet though!

    Why don't they have a 90° spine?

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. It's still adequate to use a fire starter on.

    Seems like a cool one! Wish it was a truly a zero scandi grind with a name like "Puukko" but I bet a lot of people would potentially see edge damage and complain about it. Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder how a tough steel like 3V would hold up in a true scandi grind??
