I purchased this based on this review. I've had the Katana and heard the Catalyst. This, to me, is the clear winner. A lot of reviewers talk about "great practice amp" but the 100 is more than capable of using at live shows.
I’ve had this amp for a month and half and I still had no idea about the tap tempo on the amp. Awesome tip! I did just find the ability to demo sounds from the community without needing to download them. Another insanely awesome feature.
Das Video ist ausgesprochen gut! Die Erklärungen kurz und prägnant und vor allen Dingen die Sounds der Gitarre sind unglaublich gut!! Kann man sagen dass die Sounds schon eher stratorientiert sind? Vielen Dank! Frohe Weihnachten! 🌲🌲😊
great simple and quick review. I bought one a year ago ( the 100 as it comes with the footswitch). Liked it soi much I bought a second one used for half the price to run in stereo and or have as a backup
Makes a great at home training amp with many more options. Great way to hear and recognize various effects. Mustang 3 is built much better and has fooled many from stage. I had to tweak all 100 presets to make usable when performing. From volume levels to amp to equalizers. I like the 6 second looper dooper.🤗
How does it sound speaker wise? Im thinking of selling a bunch of gear and just having a gtx now, as i only play at home for fun and dont need so many pedals cluttering up the place..but im worried id go from my orange thru a 1x12 cab, to this and hate the speaker sound. Do you get the feeling of moving air like you do with a real tube amp rig?
@@Ironworthstriking i did.downgrade.. but to an orange cr60.anf sold the tube amp and a few pedals, im down to just..7 including the tuner.. thats good going for me. Ive not rules out getting.one of these, but wanna try one before splashing the cash! 👍
Nice amp. The Katana is more a hard rock/metal capable amp but for me this is the modelling amp to get. This is in tube amp territory (DSL-5 & Pro Jr. VI SE both 10") yet as a package with controler hard to beat.
Just for a heads up , first one I brought home ,amp would cut out and fade back in .returned. 2nd one was doing the same thing when it finally fired itself. Had been on about 45 mins.
Same issue, also AT&T Wi-Fi interestingly. I contacted Fender and they just sent me a new unit. While that was in the mail I found the Wi-Fi solution. Resolved the issue on both amps, so now I’ve just got an extra GTX 100
James...it looks like you have a super reverb in back. Can you tell me if the simulated Super reverb patch of the Mustang GTX nails that super reverb tone? I recently just found out that this amp has three of my favorite things: Super Reverb, vibroking, and a Univibe. Just looking for some real world feedback. Thanks so much.
Awesome video showing all the options and your playing is great! Would you say the 100W can be used as a bedroom amp and still sound good at low volumes? I have a 15W tube amp now (Superchamp XD) and 100W sounds like my neighbors will not be happy.. I had a 100W Marshall JCM in the past, which I returned because it was so loud, even at low volume setting.
Hey man thanks for doing this video. Anyway you could do one that goes over the looper pedal? (7. Button) i just got the Gtx50 and i can get the first loop no problem but when i go to put down another one it starts playing it?? Thanks!
I love your videos. One question. Does the GTX have a simulated tube tone for this Fender solid-state amp, like the Fender Tone Master has simulated good tube tones?
Hey my man can you help me I bought one of those GTX is and the tap tempo button is lighting up and keeps making the ticking tap sound how do I kill that tap Tempo sound
Bluetooth headphones would not work on any level. You will have latency issues. In other words you will have a small delay from when you strike the string to you actually hearing the sound.
The big thing with a Katana for me is that you never feel like you’re harnessing (or even accessing half of the time) the amps full potential, because it is locked away for deep editing via laptop / PC. It’s a shame but I think if you’re going to do modelling, you do need some sort of GUI, be that on the amp itself, or via app connection. There’s too much tucked away that you’ll never be bothered using otherwise.
Can you stack the same type effect? That's my big sticking point with Fenders. I owned the mustang 1, now looking for a new amp and really stuck between Katana, Fender GTX, LT, Yamaha..etc. The Katana allows you to run two delays if you wanted - for those big ambient sounds. At least in the past, you couldn't do that on Fenders.
Good question! Searching: 'Introducing the Mustang GTX' Gets you the Fender guy, and this Video, I am on my way to see if He is taking comments on the Fender vid. I want to run a speaker from the GTX, so I can have 2-12's Possible? Alohaas
@@konarain I bought the GTX 50 and you can stack effects until you run out of processing power. Depending on the amp, settings, different effects it could be more or less effects. But I ended up returning the amp already. With certain effects added it was almost like the amp couldn't keep up and would start cutting signal. Perhaps I just got a defective one though.
queue the tube snobs..... i own one and tweaked it better than my old JCM800 100w - sold it too - too big, loud and heavy. This thing will do the job, in a band no one at all would ever know or care. WHY HAVE AN AMP WITH ONE TONE WHEN YOU CAN HAVE HUNDREDS?
I couldn’t agree more Glen, as musicians it’s easy to be suckered in to what you think matters, but if someone plans to entertain, it’s far more important to sound good to your audience, than to have your gear list look good to your peers. I’ve owned all kinds of good and bad gear in the past and even recently was looking at new tube amps only to be put off by forums citing one problem or another, just let me plug something in, pick a setting and sound good - I don’t care what’s inside the box any more.
From other demos I’ve heard, clean and modulation sounds good but gain can’t match tube breakup and saturation. Care to chime in on that? BTW, thank you for this and great playing!
Obviously a $400-$600 amp isn't going to do gain sounds like $2000 tube amp, but the key to dialing in those types of sounds is getting to know all of the available controls for the amp models and being prepared to spend the time dialing in tones, and tweaking them.
james ryan of course. I guess I was thinking more like a Marshall DSL40CR which is only about $250ish more than the GTX and does gain well. I’ve been disappointed with gain from modelers like the Katana, even with tweaked settings. Again, thanks!
@@Smart-Alex My experience with Fender and high gain is that they can't do it well. How that is possible with all the money they have, I don't know. I had the first Mustang brains in floorboard form. Called the "Fender Floor" - not the most creative name perhaps but when I ran it through a tube amp - immediate 50% improvement. so, make a mustang with a tube power section. there's a video where some dude demos it and has dialed in the most badass high gain tones I didn't know it was capable of. I'll try to find it. Really cool what they could do if they wanted. sigh......
It probably does because there is default compression on all of the tones, a compression setting that is ‘on’ by default. Some other reviewers have noted it, and then turned it off which improves the tone.

It is possible to use the 100 easily quieter than a 15w tube amp.
The super champ XD is amazing. shows what the boneheads can do if they were to make a mustang model with tub power section.
Pretty sure you can adjust the wattage right down as low as 0.5 watts.

Just unplug the speaker
you turn the master down and it mutes

How do you use the Pedals effects without having a real pedal?

Since apparently no one is answering questions around here
You can edit them on the amp but obviously remotely activating them mid playing is only possible with the foot switch

Yep, FX loop on the 100 is perfect for it
