Glasner definitely can help Crystal Palace, but one point was missing in the discussion - language barrier. I think Glasner is very exact in his game plan and very talented in helping players who might lack the right mentality, he can build a strong team spirit. But for that he needs a lot of talking, explaining and also finding the right tone and the exact wording in the right moment. Something that he absolutely masters when using the German language - with mostly players who's mother tongue is German as well, in the Bundesliga. We will see if he can break that barrier. I think he can, but it is definitely something worth discussing. That said, he is currently one of the best managers out there and I am excited to watch some Palace games!

Dunno I think Dom is quoting Sellsy there about how the team will play. The negativity is slightly depressing. Our squad is much thinner than it should for sure. Doucoure is a big miss BUT Lerma and Wharton look like a fantastic pairing and if anything Wharton looks to be considerably mouthier than Cheick, he's constantly talking and directing. Monday had enough similarities in the first hour to what Glasner might do that I'd expect that to be the starting blueprint for the rest of the season. Munoz was high a lot. CBs and MFs were trying lots of direct through balls. The strikers were quite narrow and played together more than being on the wings. The goal involved all three stirkers and pretty much was in the middle of the pitch. We won a lot of second balls and pressed quite aggressively. I don't think we dropped deep and parked the bus until the last 30 minutes when we clearly were tired...how much of that is down to lack of fitness vs squad depth remains to be seen. What is telling is that Glasner brought his own fitness coach with him.
Having watched Glasners press conference he specifically mentioned the first hour at Goodison and being happy with it and made some obliquely not happy noises about the last 30...so the obvious was obvious. Interestingly in his walk around Selhurst with CG (paraphrasing) he mentioned the Everton match as not bad for the first game but again seemed a bit eh about the draw. I'm sure he had a major hand in the setup and selection for that match.
As a Palace fan I'm only hoping we can stay up but it might be tough with injuries like these. Weirdly this is a perfect opportunity for Rak-Sakyi to shine but he's away at loan.

They tried Rooney and then switched. Declan Rice has started taking the corners for Arsenal you’d traditionally want the tall strong player in the box but Arsenal have one of the best set piece records since he moved to take them. He’s won leagues in multiple countries reach the Europa League final with Fulham’s and UEFA Cup while at Inter, tonnes of cups. Do you have a problem with the love in for Big Ange? Because it’s essentially the same resume.

In the modern game, this means a low, flat delivery that is just above the man at the front post and the space for which you're aiming is quite small in dimensional terms. Incidentally, this is why so many crosses 'fail to beat the first man' and why takers who do so aren't taken off them - they've typically been just a few inches off a perfect delivery, it's just a much more noticeable fail state than looping one too high (that just results in CBs/keeper gobbling up the ball easily and isn't attributed by the average fan to a poor delivery). Most international players have no trouble just kicking the ball into the box, but unless you have very good delivery there's no point doing it - you're much better off just taking it short and restarting the attack from open play.
