    I can’t believe you posted this 7 years ago and I’m just now seeing it! I just did it with white acrylic power and I love it! Can’t wait to see how long it lasts. I’m a hairstylist that specializes in braiding and I don’t like long nails. This is perfect, thank you!

    Thank you so much for this! My rubbery, peeling nails wouldn't even hold gel polish. The salon did acrylics over gel for me but I knew I did not have the time or patience to do straight acrylics and fills (nor the money to keep going to the salon). This method is so easy and lasts 3 weeks on me. Looking down at a polished hand gives me an uplifting confidence. I silently thank you every time I do my nails.

    As a nail tech that specializes in natural nail care, I was drawn to your video. First I want to say that you do really good work, not just your technique but everything presented. From your video process to your calming voice. Your nails and hands are beautiful too.
    The only critique I will offer is that I was given the impression this will allow one to "grow out natural nails" which in effect one will using this technique. However, that being said, you are still committed to doing fills and once you remove this product, your nails will be weakened, not strengthened. It's just not possible....
    I would recommend taking Biotin as a supplement and using cuticle oil regularly. Keeping a natural nail strengthener is a good idea as well and a good one in my experience is Cuccio. I have helped my share of women grow their natural nails out w/o using any acrylic or gel. It's a preference thing tho because polish just lasts twice as long with an enhancement product opposed to natural nails. Nail tech important tip would be to cap the free delve and use a topcoat ever 2-3 days to keep your polish intact longer.
    I definitely would recommend this for those who are trying to get away from the commitment to straight acrylics and/or straight hard gels by gradually weaning them out. Maybe start out this way then take out the gel polish and use nail glue OR just use a layer or two of soak off gels.
    Lastly, this is quite clever really how you have managed to mix two concepts (products)-it reminds me of the newer versions of glue systems out now such as Kiara Sky. Back when I did more enhancements, Backscratchers was thee brand to use...lol Boy did it smell...but is great for doing patch jobs or overlays. Or one layer to hold polish optimally.
    Either way...just thought I could enhance your comment section with some pro tips and point of views from someone who mostly does natural nail care. I wish you all the best & continued success with your channel here. Best in the new year...

    Hey, how long do you keep them and how do you remove the regular polish from it? When I do this I remove polish with acetone but that also causes lifting and makes my base not last.

    • @Beanana711
      @Beanana711  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ONEdark COCOA I keep them on for about 2 weeks. I use non-acetone polish removed to take off regular polish without hurting the gel. That should keep the gel from lifting. Thank you for watching! :)

      I think you can probably infil by buffing the top layer and using the method at the base of the nail on the regrowth only, then capping the whole nail. It's an excellent method with no lifting

      I don’t think it would work well with regular polish. It would just chip/flake off like regular. Gel polish with the led/uv light bonds to the nail and keeps it from flaking and chipping.

    I just wanted to stop by and thank you for this video. I live on a tight budget, but I love beautiful nails. Because of illness, I've always worn acrylics, done at the salon, but that's way out of a disability budget. I gathered all these items and dove in head first. Yes, my first set only lasted a few days before the lifting started, but I knew I needed a better method from removing dead cuticle skin (just wanted to use what was already in the house). I tried to tag you on instagram, but couldn't find you, so i tagged you on Facebook, cause i was just so proud of how they turned out (lol). I've ordered a better cuticle pusher, cuticle remover and the gel you showed in the video (don't want to do the buffing, lol). Thank you for the time & energy you invest into these videos. Blessings!!!!

    I rarely find tutorials that do techniques with Gel and/or Acrylic for Natural Nail Technique. I do not wear nail polish because I'm very conservative when it comes to polishes. I like wearing natural and French Manicure with a White that is pretty muted, almost like a natural looking white. For this I create my own mixture of Whites to create a Cloudy White color that makes my nails look so natural with a very pretty lite sheen or tint. I get so many people ask about it but since I mix my own, It is hard to give them a product name. I have watched all your tutorials and you know what you're doing. So with this, I wanted to request if you can make a tutorial for refilling when needed for this technique. Thank you so much. Hope to hear from you and have a great day. 🙂

    Is there a way to just remove the gel polish without removing the acrylic power?

  • @PrettyThingsRock
    @PrettyThingsRock 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just curious, is a base coat and foundation the same? Also. which do you dedicate for applying the layers, so you don't add powder in the bottle? I use the foundation, and my last coat is my top coat. :) I broke a nail so I did an acrygel overlay to help keep it strong. What happens if you don't cure completely, will that make it weaker, and easy to break? Just curious, tfs - xoxo Emmie

    • @Beanana711
      @Beanana711  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PrettyThingsRock I believe so, but I would have to read up more on foundation vs. base coat to know for sure (you use them the same way, so I'm guessing yes). I used the topcoat for the application but that's because I have more topcoats then base coats, lol. Either one works :) If you don't cure it completely you run the risk of developing an allergic reaction or in extreme cases the gel can actually brake down the nail plate and damage it. And yes, it would also be weaker. Hope that helps! :)

  • @iluvtx88

    So the acrylic powder will give it thickness but only strength to a certain extent. The strength behind acrylic is when it is used with monomer, a chemical reaction happens and the powder and monomer form a substance that turns into a solid when it sets. When you mix acrylic with the gel polish, it is still going to be in a granular form… You could add salt or sugar or sand and it will have the same affect as using the acrylic powder. Using repair silk wraps or fiberglass wraps would add the strength and would probably be a better option if you have thin brittle flaky nails such as I have.

    I'm confused lol, complete newbie here. Have worn traditional gel nails and pink and white acrylics for 20yrs. I have epilepsy now and cannot drive so I've had to give up salon trips and am now looking for natural looking nails I can do at home. Couple questions...
    1. Do you "fill" with this technique or do you soak all the way off and start fresh every couple weeks?
    2. Can you fix chipping or lifting and how?
    3. If you do "fills" with method, can/how do you change polish color?

    • @Beanana711
      @Beanana711  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Heather DeLauder 1) Nope, I soak off and redo it. It's so fast that I don't feel the need to "fill". For me it's just easier to start over. 2) I have seen people use a drop of glue to fix it but for me personally I'm worried about something growing under there so I just remove it and start over. Must safer that way. 3) You can use a non-acetone polish remover to take off the polish and switch to a new color. (if you are using regular nail polish). Hope that helps! :)

    I try the same thing ,to let my natural nails grow
    but mine does not look so good as yours :(
    I will leave them for some time with just a nails hardener.
    you did a great job here

      Thank you! That's to bad, I wonder if it's the acrylic (it might be to big) or that your not getting the powder wet enough with the gel (sometimes that can cause air bubbles or bumps). You're nails always look amazing! :) TFW

    • @Beanana711
      @Beanana711  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      10-20 minutes depending how much of the gel you file off 1st.. And most brands just peel off but you might need a cuticle pusher to help push it off the gel. In the description box there is a "how to remove gel polish" video, that will explain the steps better if you are interested. Thank you again for watching :)

  • @MakeupByRoanne

    how is the removal of these? i am considering going back to acrylic because removing gel is such a process and feel that acrylic soaks off so much easier in acetone.

    • @Beanana711

      I'm using soak off gel in this video, you would use the same process as acrylics to soak it off (with acetone). Thank you for watching! :)

    ok, I'm afraid of the lamp, it always burns my nails I don't know what I'm not doing right

    • @Beanana711
      @Beanana711  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually if it burns it's because you applied the gel too thick or the gel has impurities and is curing unevenly (some cheaper ebay type brands have done this to me). I would try applying very thin layers and see if that helps, if not then I would try a different brand. Hope that helps :)

    Can this really help "grow out" the nails? or just lessen the chance of nails taring? My finger nails are hideous and I have been trying for years to reshape them from fan shaped to more symmetrical squares with more paralleled sides. My nails tare super easily so it's like starting over every 2 weeks to get them long enough just to shape them.

      hey.... have you ever tried Nail Growth Miracle by Sally Hansen? It's a gold bottle that comes in a box, hanging on a peg in the Sally Hansen nail section at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, etc..... Walmart sells it for about &10....its cheaper at Target & alot more expensive at drugstores! It's a clear base coat that you apply (wear it alone or under polish) every other day for (however long).... . ex: put it on Monday, on Wednesday, remove with polish remover then reapply. Do this religiously & I swear your nails will get better!!! I had the same problem. I've been using this stuff for almost ten years now!

    Just wanted to add my thanks. I've tried every strong builder gel in the world to overlay my nails and every time, they lift and take the top layer of my new nail with it. No matter how many expensive bonders I use. I had resorted to overlaying with a complete acrylic monomer and powder....but it's so bulky. This is the first time I have used a method to successfully overlay a nail with no lifting. I'm so pleased. Almost seems too easy...where's the catch! But Thank you

    hi easy to follow video, love it. Can you use a gel polish that doesn't use a light? i have an essie gel polish i love can it be used?

    • @Beanana711
      @Beanana711  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, unfortunately that will not work. The lightless gels are basically regular nail polish and don't last as long. I've never tried it but I'm pretty sure you'd get chipping right away and the strength wouldn't be there that the gel/acrylic gives. Thank you for watching! :)

    +Jazz J,
    I would do 90-120 sec for each layer in a UV lamp, depending on the wattage of the lamp. (9-18w = 120sec, 18-36+w = 90sec)

    • @Beanana711
      @Beanana711  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The curing time will depend on the gel and lamp you are using. It usually states 30-90 seconds. 30 for an LED lamp and closer to 90 for UV. It should state on the bottle or package of the gel. Hope that helps! TFW
