Beautiful song we are using today in home worship. We worship the Lord in our homes even when Coronavirus lockdown prevents us from going to worship. Come, Lord Jesus!
This song came out when I was twenty two and is in the key of G major - I remember learning it. In 1994, just after my twenty fourth birthday, I sang it at March for Jesus in London with three friends amongst a large crowd gathered for that event. Incredible!
The Gospel is the key: Matthew 24v14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come!"
This song is the theme tune of our prayer triplet. One of the key lines of the song for us is "touched by the madness and lies". The song, though written a long time ago, is sadly more relevant than ever and powerfully describes the time we are now in. Much of the church is asleep or so carried away with it's own momentum that it fails to be gripped by the call to seek the Lord's face as never before, to get thoroughy rooted and grounded in the word and respond to the urgenct need to pray and pray from the very heart and persevere in that praying In the the last sentence I accidentally wrote "rooted and grounded in the world' - maybe it was'nt such a mistake. We ( INCLUDING ME) need to wake up, and shake off the world. Tragically significant numbers of the church are embracing "the madness and lies' in its desperation to be "relevant" all the while becoming increasingly irrelevant. Let's be the bride we are called to be all the while holding out light and truth and salvation to the world.
Sarah, you might be interested to know that I took part in the London March for Jesus in 1994, half a lifetime ago (I am now fifty one), and prayed for my local church to get active in evangelism and be salt and light. I wish March for Jesus still existed; it finished when I turned thirty. My church now has a vicar who instigated a series of local prayer walks last year and I am waiting to see the results from this endeavour!
Noel songs are more relevant than ever today !!

I'm reminded of this song that we haven't sung in a while - but how very apt are the words!
What a song.. a cry for Him to Do it and a picture of heaven
Ive been listening to Noel Richards for decades, never tiring, still very relevant.

Wow it reminds me of the late 90s. May the spirit of God be poured on us.
In the late 90s I was in my late twenties. I took part in the London March for Jesus in 1994, aged 24, half a lifetime ago. I am fast approaching 53!
I used to sing this down a local high street when I was a toddler.
Hope you still have the same zeal

Sarah, I strongly recommend you read "Breaking the Silence" by Fred Saleh, as your comment was in a very similar vein to that powerful book.
