What a marvellous fellow, informative, somewhat entertaining, i headed out to the van, one sunday morn, before church i hasten to add, after a brutal night on the tincture, i found myself fully equipped with knowledge to carry out such a venture. Bravo you fine fettler of a man.
I’ve spent hours today trying to push the piston back as the one size I needed wasn’t in the tool kit. I’m the end a pair of long nose pliers and a second person using a long chisel to apply pressure. Did the trick.
Bien hecho amigo, easy job 4 u today ! Ive bought an 1978 VW Camper and was checking the brakes ! I sheered of one bleed nipple and twisted one brake pipe ! But thankfully new wheel cylinder and brake pipe cost £10 on autodoc !
Swear i bought that exact wind back tool set and not a single adapter fit... Any idea if theres a size code for the specific adapter or a link to one that will fit? Managed it with a g clamp and some grips but for next time?
@@edgywingsetacid I’ve done the g-clamp and grips my fair share of times. Pain in the arse innit! This is a BluePoint kit off the Snapon van, not sure the different adapters can be bought separately though 🤔
The front will be easier as you don’t have to rewind the handbrake mechanism. Just carefully push the piston back in with a screwdriver or something. You should really crack the bleed nipple we you retract the piston, but most people don’t bother with no issues.
These rear calipers are shite mine are always binding, on another note my master blows head lamp bulbs like there going out of fashion i see loads of masters with one lamp out😂 good vid 👍
@@SG3-wd40 thanks mate. Handbrake callipers in general are problematic tbh! Make sure you’ve not got bad connections in your bulb holders. Bad connections cause bulbs to blow due to the filament heating and cooling rapidly.
You made it look easy, every bolt on mine was tight as fuck. Snapped a breaker bar getting the wheel nut off and those caliper pins have bent my allen bit and still didn't come out. It then started to snow so gave up. Must buy better tools 😂
So the brake pads are worn out on one side but still have 50%+ on the other. Shall I investigate the reason and fix it....... Naa just change the brake pads! 😂
I did fix the problem. My suspicion is that a previous mechanic had fitted pads only to one side as they appeared to be different brands on each side and one side was worn out and rusted up. This video was filmed months ago. Van has been fine since with no binding brakes etc 🤷♀️

Did you try the tricks I show my brake pipe and brake bleeding vids?
At least it was cheaply fixed
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos vans been neglected, but i will get it road worthy again !
@@arnietwo11 good luck with it bro ✊
@arnietwo11 or just wait till its 40 years old when it won't need an MOT! 😂

We twated things when I worked on bus's. Manly the drivers 😂
Excellent footage Ken 👏
I often felt the same when I worked on 8 leg tipper trucks. They came back with something broken at the end of EVERY fucking day!
Very good video. Interesting phrase you used on brake discs - 'twatting'. I'd like to see a demonstration video of that. 😁
I used to work on Lorrie’s for a living in a past life, that involved twatting just about everything 😂
Smashing fellow. By the slang he uses I would say he comes from Longton in Lancashire
Sunny Oldham in Lancashire, not Greater Manchester
Is the front the same sort of thing or is it slightly different?

The fronts should be more like what’s shown this other video, but a bit bigger.

What? No Break paurts cleenurr?
Not this time. I’ve let the viewers down, I’ve let the van down, but most of all,.. I’ve let myself down.
@StupidBlokeStupidVideos We're not angry. Just disappointed 😞

Nah fuck it, just change the pads. It was just doing the minimum to get it back on the road for now.
But now I have in fact eventually changed the shagged calliper. Check out this weeks video for that one.
An excellent instructional video from you sir 🎩 cap doffed 👍
