- Power Station at BerkleeNYC will be a state-of-the-art recording and video production facility for the New York City’s music, theater, television, and film industries.

BerkleeNYC, with funds from Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) and the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), will host both free and tuition-based educational programs, performances, and resources for local musicians and will also feature a virtual reality/augmented reality studio.
Berklee plans to continue operating the studio commercially as the re-christened Power Station at BerkleeNYC, restoring the name established by original owner, visionary studio designer Tony Bongiovi.
The project was spearheaded by Pete Muller, who is a singer-songwriter and a member of the Berklee Board of Trustees. Stephen Webber, executive director of BerkleeNYC and dean of Strategic Initiatives,will lead the center and develop programs.

I've had the privilege of working at Avatar and it's truly a treasure. Thank you, Berklee, for keeping it alive.
I went to berklee and I worked at avatar / power station in the early 2000s. It is hands down the best recording studio in New York. The drum sounds in studio A are amazing and the piano sounds in C are incredible. Plus the place has amazing features that don't exists anywhere like REAL echo chambers and Omni room mics that go up and down to capture ambiance.
This is amazing! It's so great that they were able to save power station and give us (I'm a Berklee online student) an opportunity to experience it. I live closer to NYC than to Boston so I really hope I can visit or somehow become involved in what'll be going on there. Excited to see what becomes of it!!

WOW!! As a graduate from the Class of 1976 right on my Birthday in Boston. Being from upstate New York I would have loved to see this happen back then. What a great opportunity for the younger guys. Bill Leavitt and I would have had some great times and drank a lot of coffee knowing that his was happening if he was still around today. This is great news to hear especially with all of the other crap going on in the world these days. GO BERKELEE!!!!
I'm so psyched!! As a Berklee graduate who returned to NY to start my career at Skyline and then Power Station, I couldn't be happier that this sacred space will live on as a multi-room recording studio. I always have been intrigued by the idea of teaching at Berklee, and now that they've come to my back yard, who knows!
