- Bi Han can comeback as Noob Saibot
- Kano can comeback with the metal plate in the eye Sonya stabbed
- Kung Lao can comeback when they defeat Shang Tsung and he get his soul back
- Kabal can comeback by simply surviving and having more burns
- Mileena can comeback as another clone since in the games there were a lot of mileena clones
The way I feel they'll bring back Mileena (as the real Mileena everyone loves) is they're gonna use this ones soul and put it into a new and better body modeled after Kitana to make her more stronger so the same soul but in a different powerful body

With Kung Lao they should have Quan chi make him into a revenant and then you can kick Quan chi in the balls like in mkx and turn the revenants back.

That was indeed Reptile. When Mr. Tsung is talking to Mileena, he says "Send in the reptilian, Syzoth". Syzoth is Reptile's actual name.

Those were my exact same favorites
I took Cole's power as a physical manifestation of his fighting style, in that he deliberately takes hits and doesn't defend himself so he can try to bear down on his opponant. SO I took his power as his body trying to defend itself in the face of actual death.
He is a crap character with a stupid ability..why did they create this character.. this movie was so horrible..Dude just beats Goro like nothing..THE MK champion..who defeated The Great Kung Lao...come on..

In the movie when Kung Lao teleported in to Liu’s rescue. Liu called him “師兄” (Shi xiong) which was subbed in Englsih as ‘cousin’ The term actually means ‘senior academy fellow/apprentice’. Liu was found as an orphan before he joined the Wu Shi academy and met Kung Lao, who was already a student there and that’s why Liu called him ‘shi xiong’. In Chinese culture,It’s one of the respectful titles that is used when we address or refer to the others who are senior than us.

Overall the movie was good and a good starting point for the sequel.

A thought about Cole. Maybe, after Hanzo's "failure" to save his family, his bloodline developed the armor ability as a better defense mechanism.

THe reason he has armor that absorbs damage is because in his MMa fights ; he literally only takes hits .. his fight booker even calls him "The human punching bag" thats why he has 1 blocking stick .... cause he takes somany hits in hits fights...... his arkhana is literally a joke about his mma skills XD
Regardless, his power is literally plot armor. It removes all suspense from any of his fights because he's impossible to kill unless you cut his head off. If he was just able to summon tonfas, that would have been way better.

The actor who played Reiko, Nathan Jones, is a big name in the martial arts side of Hollywood, so I’m glad he got to be a part of this 😎🤙.

Max was AMAZING as Kung Lao like I was SOOOOOOOOO impressed by his performance. He did the absolute best to me!

In the original timeline Kabal was ambushed by Kano leading a small batch of Shao Kahn’s extermination squads, resulting in his face being horrifically scarred and his windpipe being slit. In the new timeline of the NRS era, Kabal was burned alive by Kintaro during the invasion of Earthrealm.
I think Kano's death will make him the Kano we used to know. He was stabbed in the eyes (Making the cybernetic eye) and then the Cybernetic heart as a life-support purpose.
The problem I had with Shang Tsung is that he didn't show any facial expressions.
Yea in the original he did a lot of stuff plus his outfit was fuckin awesome and im glad it got added in mk 11

His devotion to MK is great for the fan base and the game itself but I felt in his review he was way too generous. I get it, he wanted to show love but the writing was bad. Mk is rich in lore, and the movie doesn't capture it. But I'm hoping that sequel brings forth better writers

23:45 yep unfortunately it was Reptile. Shang Tsung said "Send the reptilian Syzoth" or something like that in the movie. Syzoth is Reptile's real name. In MKX there is a intro dialogue between Reptile and Raiden. Raiden says that name and Reptile says "you know my true name". So it was Reptile and he died. :(
Ok reptile was so nerfed in this movie i really wanted more of him but hopefully we get baraka in the sequel's

The origin of Reptile should be of a famous ninja clansman who ends up hunting and killing Predator and then captures the ability to use his cloaking device and so becomes known as Reptile.

I can feel this review. Probably one of the fairest and balanced reviews I've seen to date. I'm a fan regardless.
I mostly enjoyed everyone's interpretation, as I think the goal was for the production company to do well enough to secure a franchise, no big deal...
I was captivated by Sub Zero's interpretation, he was basically the MK edition of the Winter Soldier. Pun intended 😁

If I can try and get one point across as to why I'm positive even tho the movie was subpar. It's that if we support this movie it opens the door to other MK projects and they can take the criticism and make the perfect MK movie for part 2. I mean we didn't even get the torny yet so there is hugeeee hope!
I disagree that Jax is a "token black guy". He's been with the game since 1993 and has earned some respect.
I really liked the Reptile. I was concerned when they showed him in the trailer, but he looked really cool in the movie.
I enjoyed the movie for what it was, a video game movie.
I would love to see Erron Black, Jade, D'Vorah and Fujin in future MK movies.
I was hoping they'd have Reiko wear the mask at some point and then when he gets defeated it falls to the ground and at the end someone picks it up and puts it on, which would lead to the tease of Shao Kahn being in the sequel

One thing I noticed the second time was Liu Kang said he unlocked his Arcana instantly as well after killing the guy with the orphans.
Bi Han and Kabal were the two best characters by a mile.
That being said, Scorpion, Kung Lao and Kano were also pretty rad

The problem was Cole Young. If he wasn't in it you would had plenty of time to flesh out the legacy characters.
Honestly yeah. I liked Cole Young, but so many other characters could've gotten the stagelight.
Why would they even introduce new characters when the MK fans are completely fine with the current cast/roster. They could’ve given us Liu Kang as the main character and i woulda loved it
I think Cole young was necessary. Because without Cole, it's a total repetition of the story we know. With him it's a different storyline but still basing things from the games. That way non-gamers dont just suffer with gamers spoiling everything lol

Kabal has been treated amazingly well, considering all the characters featured and the few lines he was given. The voice actor was amazing too. Subzero, Kung Lao and Sonya were extremely accurate imo.
Last but not the least, the decision to threw Reiko and Nitara on the movie was a great call for me. I played the 3D era games too so I definitely enjoyed that. They can always bring them back, nobody really dies on the MK universe.
I do think that this is going down the Quan Chi path, you can hear faintly when Scorpion is returning to the fires of hell "Hasashi Hanzo, Scorpion..." like a voice is summoning him there, this would likely be Quan Chi.
I also believe that it could be revenants with quan chi cause shang stung took his dead soldiers bodies and said he would come back with armies
or it could be Havok 🤷🏻♀️

The movie is the reason how I got into MK. My mom used to play MK when she was young, one of the first three games. She found the movie on NOW TV and decided to watch it. I didn’t have interest but at the same time I stayed in the same room with her and when we finished it, I loved it and started playing MK11. I watch some MK storyline summary here just to at least know what’s going on with the story. I understand some, but I kinda need to know characters that aren’t in or are just cameos in MK11 and maybe watch some story mode gameplay from previous games
I liked how raiden sounded like the original raiden when he first appeared
They built up cole like he was going to be the reincarnation of scorpion and he just ended up being wish black panther with absolutely 0 drip

I loved everything and everyone. Sonya was my fav to my own surprise. Kano was great as well. Like I said I loved everything and everyone. Phenomenal. Edit: One small detail I liked was how after Shang Tsung gushes about Nitara's beuty you can see Mileena glaring at her, most likely out of jealousy. Fitting imo.
If Jax had tiny Rex metal arms and got a upgrade, Sonya easily could have a weak arm gun, some kind of shooting machine attached to her arms, so when she shows up to shot Mileena, the gun would shoot the stronger energy as a surprise.

With Sonya unlocking her Arcana it is possible since Lui Kang when he tell his Story he says as soon as he killed the dude and took the Mark at that precise moment he got his Arcana. So having Lui Kang say that is what sets up Sonya doing it immediately without any issue. Now does it make much sense No but that's why it was possible.
They needed more character development for everyone else besides Cole and kano but other than that absolutely loved it
Sonya most likely had the training she needed without the marking, so when she got her mark she new what she had to do, and she grew a bond with cole and wanted to save him

Idk, I just want a 'Fire & Ice' spin-off movie. Opening scene was awesome. Sub-Zero and Scorpion together on-screen.... Pure gold. I need that movie with Hiroyuki Sanada and Joe Taslim.

Sonya has been researching all this for years so I think her powers were already there but she just needed the mark to activate it, Kano and Cole were more newer to the lore etc!
I can confirm that Reptile indeed was in the movie. Shang Tsung called on the reptilian, Syzoth. Syzoth is Reptiles real name. His minutes on screen were awesome and I loved his look.

What you said about having Goro killing Lao would have definitely resolved the issue of Kung Lao being off’d so easily and generating a feeling of Goro being powerful.

My guess on Kung Lao coming back is, they figure out a way to extract his soul from Shang Tsung. That way they can setup that Shaolin Monks movie without it having to be a prequel.

My guess is we might be introduced to Kenshi and Ermac in the next movie. I'm thinking that Ermac would be like his old timeline counterpart, having defected to Earthrealm's side after fighting Kenshi and the two have journeyed together since then. Ermac could use his powers to free Kung Lao's soul from Shang Tsung.

The scene where raiden takes the earthrealmers to the void I feel like that could have been replaced with Raiden's sky temple. It would be cool but I don't think they had a big enough budget to do it.
Also if u payed attention u can see that kano didn't put shinnok's amulet back so maybe that would play a big part in the sequel

That is the line Shang Tsung said to Raiden after Subzero died. Shang said "Today you killed my warriors and you think you have won. But death is only another portal."

Man I loved this movie, just stupid fun, I'm most excited to see my boy Noob siabot. I thought they did great work getting the base for the universe set up.
Cole Young's armor (I think) is from a foreshadow in the beginning of the movie where the gym owner says that he can't just be a punching bag in the ring, he has to defend and attack...so his arcana allows him to still be that punching bag and then allow him to attack. I also saw a resemblance to the Black Panther costume.
The only thing I can say is that she’s a badass with her energy rings
And the kung lao fatality was awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥
My two biggest complaints with this movie were the pacing and some of the editing. Since it was a short movie they weren’t able to focus on certain things as much as I would of liked. What I mean by the editing was that the cuts to different characters and scenes felt sorta messing and uneven, the cgi was great. Other than that I think the movie is good.
I grew up with mk from playing the first game with my brother and seeing the first movie with my best friend. I've played every game and seen every movie and show. I loved this movie. It was fun, violent, funny and I was entertained the entire time. Nerds forget how to be nerds. Everything is negative and everything is suppose to live up to ridiculous standards pushed by those who have no clue how to write a movie let alone develop a game. Also, seeing how popular criticism channels are like avgn and double toasted, nerds are being conditioned to believe being negative is cool. Like some high school bully because they're insecure. It's fine to not like something but so many nerds take it to a childishly annoying level.
