This scene made me realize what dean was missing as a boyfriend for Rory. It’s the intellect and interests that Rory and Jess share. He is capable of holding discussions with Paris, smart enough to get the respect of Rory’s friend and connect with her. I wish they had explored this more. Instead of letting him be the boyfriend who does not take interest in Rory’s life and friends. He talks a lot more in this scene than with anyone on the show besides with Rory and Luke. You could tell that he took interest in that conversation with Paris.

I don’t hate Dean, but his reaction here was really frustrating. When he sees Paris we can see on his face that he is shocked because he believed Rory lied to him to be with Jess. But then he is mad at her like... what ? What could she possibly do with Jess if another person is here too

it’s been a while since this show but i realized that paris taking responsibility must have been a fight or flight response? her parents were probably dealing with the aftermath of their nasty divorce, and here she saw one of her friends going through an argument with her significant other, and her response was to say it was her fault?
