    I don't think the star piece was a washer that didn't belong.... I think it was the metal insert from the original fan. When that fan self destructed and disappeared... it left that insert on the shaft.

    I watched this for my 2018 Gravely ZT HD and it was an even taller fan than yours! My fan was part number 53821. It is best to take it apart to check part numbers first for anyone else doing this job.

    I hear you loud and clear, no problem. Thanks for your videos, you explain things in a very clear concise manner. We just have had the worst luck regarding mower repair guys lately, I've decided it best to learn how to try and resolve some issues ourselves, so I really appreciate you!! Right now I'm shopping for a new mower, mid priced, 4 acres some hilly, many obstacles and some rough terrain. Can't make up my mind and my husband wants me to do the research and decide. Not an emergency, still got one mower running.
    Any suggestions?

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, I hear ya there are some shady mower repair shops out there. If I was mowing 4 acres (I never have that is a huge yard), I would get at a minimum a 50in mower. Next pick a brand, I suggest sticking with a John Deere if you are doing a regular riding mower or go with a Deere or Cub Cadet for a zero turn. Now if it were me I would go to Tractor Supply and get a new Cub Cadet 50in Zeroturn. I think they are the best for the money.
      Now if you go used I would stick to a John Deere or an older Craftsman or Toro. The older Craftsman are great mowers. Anyways enough rambling. If you can narrow it down a bit I can give you some more mower ramblings.

    Just found your video. Thanks so much. How do you change out the fan while it is still on the mower? Looks like very little room to get the 15/16 wrench on the lock nut from underneath?

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some mowers you can lift the deck where you put your feet to get access. If not then you are stuck sneaking a hand in there. I have videos on how to remove and install the transmission if it comes to that. Good luck

      @@MowerMike Thank you. Fortunately, on my Snapper Pro, all that was needed was to loosen the lock nut from the top with an impact wrench. They did not use a lock nut on the underside. The right side fan was accessible from the top. The left side fan was OK and didn't need replacing but would require removal of the gas tank to access the lock nut from the top. Thanks again. I appreciate your channel.

    I bought my walk behind from a dealership about 5 years ago. My belt came off and destroyed my left fan. Took off what was left of the fan and that star washer insert was between the fan and the pulley. Bought a replacement fan from the dealership and the nubs are so short it will not go on with the star washer. I wonder if the replacement fans they are making are for the right fans? So I'm just going to put it back on without the star washer and hope for the best!
